Charge HR not tracking steps or GPS map course

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

my HR is linked to my new Samsung S8. Prior to walking exercise i set up the activity and the steps are counted on my HR but not recorder on my phone. The TIME taken for the activity is recorded and only some steps are recorded on my phone. The map of the places travelled is recorded as just a straight line from the start point to some random place on the walk. My wife has the Alta and the samsung S8+ and walks next to me and her activity is recorded correctly. I have the latest firmware on the HR and App on my phone.  How ca i get mine to work correctly? Thanks

Hi there @Iamian, let me give you a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. I was reading your post and I assuming you are using the MobileRun feature of the Fitbit app to enable GPS tracking, is this correct?

If I'm correct and your steps are not recorded on your phone, note that your steps will be recorded by your tracker and GPS will be complementary from your phone, In this case will be require to finish your exercise for this to compile all your data and the steps from your tracker are synced in to your Dashboard. Saying this, I'm wondering if your steps from those activities were synced correctly by now?

About your map, this usually happens either when your phone can't find a GPS signal. Or there is a weak GPS signal on your mobile device, which is often caused by environmental factors such as tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, or even thick cloud cover. All of these can interrupt the connection between your tracker and GPS satellites tracing your map course in weird positions.

If you're still having difficulty, try these troubleshooting steps:

Log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone has initialized, go back to your app and try again.

Hope this helps and let me know how it goes.

Hi Roberto, I am having similar troubles. I recently updated to a Charge 2, and am using  brand new Samsung S8. Firmware version on the Charge 2 is 22.22.55.2, and the FitBit app is version 2.60.1. I exercise (walk) daily, and always check to see that I have a good GPS connection before I go. I live in a suburban area with no tall buildings, plenty of open space with no clutter. I am assuming this is an issue with either the phone or the app. The Charge 2 accurately records my steps, and that syncs well with both phone and PC. All other data, such as heart rate, calories, time spent etc is recorded, but the GPS record of the path taken has not been captured since 18 Oct - it did 16, 17 and 18 October, but not since. Prior to that, I got a map for 5 and 6 October - so it is a bit hit and miss, but I am not doing anything different.

I have done a forced stop of the App, no difference, so I uninstalled and reinstalled, no difference. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I am having GPS/mapping issues also.  Started a few weeks a go.  Steps, heart rate, etc. sync but not GPS/map info.  Also, I have a few maps where you can tell that things were syncing correctly and then stopped and started again; there are straight lines connecting points on the map. (Straight lines I didn't walk.  It's just connecting known points.)

I've tried all the troubleshooting steps:

Clear app cache, force stop app. turn off/on location on phone, restart Bluetooth, restart phone, restart Charge 2, remove Charge 2 from app, uninstalled and reinstalled app. Done all of this multiple times in different orders.

Sometimes something works, but not lately  Either way this is ridiculous.  I shouldn't have to do all this just to go for a walk and have it tracker.

OK.  I've tried all the recommended solutions......none work.  The app even had my 'track' as walking across land, our into the river and only half way back towards land!.

My Charge HR records the steps but nothing syncs to my phone app correctly.  I (and many others too) would really like this fixed.  Not much point in having a device that doesn't work as it should so I'd welcome any suggestions that might work.  Thanks, Ian

Agree, Lamian - the lack of any response from FitBit is overwhelming.
