Constant, excessive CPU usage on Android 10

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

How does one report a bug? I've tried numerous channels now.

The app is using 8 - 13% of the CPU constantly when the screen is off. Even with no tracker paired. This is a bug. Please see attached screenshot.

Phone: Nokia 7 Plus (Android One phone) Android 10
App Version 3.41 (incl. prev. two versions)

The battery drain is horrendous.

Hi @John_21  if you have no tracker paired, why have the app? Have you tried logging out of the app to see if that makes a difference?

Hi @Odyssey13 - I am saying the app continues to be very busy whether my Charge 4 is connected or not. (paired or not, bluetooth on or not).  It keeps the Android Surfaceflinger service busy with the screen off (Surfaceflinger is responsible for composing frames ready for display on the screen).

I have tried clearing the app cache and data, restarting the phone, reinstalling the app, disabling notification service, granting all permissions, run in background, no battery optimization, leaving location and bluetooth on / off, nothing seems to help.

How does one log a bug report? The Developer contact email on Playstore just bounces saying they don't provide email support. Fitbit Support on Twitter tell me to post a new Feature Suggestion which I tried but I get a greyed-out screen with a spinning cursor when I try to post.

@JuanFitbit Absolutely! I am willing to help as much as I can.

Please tell me what they need. I can run an Android bug report and send that if you can tell me how to send it privately.

It's been a further week and nobody has asked me for any more information or given any feedback on this. @JuanFitbit

It pains me to see the app churning battery all the time, even though it is subtle enough that I suspect most people might not even notice they are charging more frequently.

I have actually seen the app act normally on two occasions - where I would see a 0.3% CPU poll every few seconds, which gave me hope.

I am still waiting to be offered that all important feature-enabling firmware update for the Charge 4. (Three weeks and counting). I wonder if the utilization I see is not the app trying to process the new firmware and failing - over and over again.
