Device not recording heart rate information

On my fitbit the bpm will get stuck and to fix it I need to restart the fitbit. This is happening more frequently now.  Is there an issue with the fitbit or do I need to do an update of the software.

To better assist you with this situation, can you please let me know which Fitbit device you're currently using? Also, when was the first time you experienced this and how many times since then?
