Device not tracking Sleep Stages

Hello,

First of all, apologies if this isn't the right board.

Today fitbit detected that I woke up earlier than I did, so I edited the entry manually. This made me lose that cool sleep visualization with the stages and now I only have a dull sleep visualization that only shows if I was restless or asleep.

Is it possible to get the cool visualization with manual edits?

Thank you

Hi @SunsetRunner, welcome to the Community Forums! Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and the details that were shared in your post, if you're using an Android mobile device, this is the right board. There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information about why you see your sleep pattern, tap or click the sleep record that shows your sleep pattern and at the bottom you'll find a message explaining you the reason why Sleep Stages were not recorded.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hello Ricardo,

Thank you for your reply but it still doesn't answer my questions fully (even after having read the links that you posted).

I did sleep in a position that allowed my device to get a consistent heart rate, but at around 12:00, after about 8 hours of sleep, I got up for about 10 minutes and got back to bed to sleep for some more 2 hours.

When I woke up I noticed that Fitbit had only detected that I had slept until 12:00, not 14:00 - so I adjusted the time manually.

After having adjusted it manually, fitbit seems to have deleted the graph where it shows the awake / rem / light / deep sleeps, and is now only showing the watered down version of the graph only with awake / restless / asleep periods.

My questions are:

a) Is it possible to make Fitbit show the detailed graph with the sleep stages, after editing the sleeps schedules manually?

b) If the answer to the previous question is positive, how do I manage to do it?

I'm having the same problem - only getting basic sleep info for the last week.
