Elliptical work out recorded when not active

Fitbit auto recognizes anything I do, including sleeping, as an elliptical work out. I occasionally do work out on the elliptical, so I have it set to auto recognize after 10 minutes. However, it is annoying to have to delete 10 inaccurate exercise logs every day, including ones at 12 AM in the morning when I am definitely not working out.

Welcome to the Forums @Ashley__.

Let me help you figure out what is going on.

The first thing I'd like to do is to ask some further questions:

  • What Fitbit is it that you are using?
  • Have you tried rising the minimum time to 15 minutes and see if that helps?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Do you sleep with a fan or an open window that could cause draft of air hitting your Fitbit?

Look forward to your reply.

My Fitbit is a charge 2. It has been logging the fake elliptical work-outs
since the end of September 2018. I have not tried increasing the
recognition time and there is nothing external making the watch act up.

Hello @Ashley__.

Thanks for getting back to me with those answers.

Let's try increasing the recognition time and see if that improves the logging of erroneous elliptical workouts. That should help in preventing this from happening again.

Let me know if there are any further questions.
