I do ten to fifteen minutes on the treadmill during my gym visits, and often do less than 1 mile.
When I go to the app to log the activity, it does not allow me to log anything less than a mile (IE I cannot log "0.5")
Any help with that? Or do I just need to get to a computer to do the logging?

Might help to know which model Fitbit you have, but, if you are wearing the tracker, you should be able to record it as it happens rather than having to log it afterward.
To see if it will auto-track, on phone app, tap exercise tile, then gear icon near top right. Under auto-recognized exercises, tap 'Walk' and change the minimum time from 15 to 10 minutes. That might get any treadmill of at least 10 minutes recognized as a walk, unless you are holding hand rail with fitbit hand. If that doesn't work, or even if does, you should be able to use the Exercise App, starting and stopping the workout right on your watch unless, you have one of the few models without the Exercise App. Too learn more about this option, see How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?

I don't it's so weird lol.
So I just want to be able to go to the app, click to log the activity as a
walk or treadmill, but I can't log it if it's under a mile.
I've been using the workout activity setting for the time on the treadmill
and weight lifting all together but I wanted the steps of the treadmill to
count lol.

It's common to feel the need to hold handrail. One thing you can do to get steps is to put tracker in a pocket. That usually gets steps well, but you lose the heart rate tracking during that time.
