Exercises are showing not enough heart rate data

My Versa 2 doesn't show the heart rate data (not enough data) in the exercise app, but correctly lists my active minutes and in the graph. Versa 2 is up to date and the switch to DST in the US is long past.

It also says poor GPS, and that must be wrong because I am in my driveway in full view of the sky.  Any answers?

@Yarngirl52 Hi there. Thanks for the details mentioned.

I'd like you to make sure that your workouts are being tracked by following this procedure. Since your Versa 2 has connected GPS, it should be connected to your app to ensure it tracks distance using GPS.

In regards to the poor GPS signal that you're getting, verify the following requirements:

  • Make sure that you have a clear view of the sky when you start the exercise. Environmental factors, including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and even thick cloud cover, can interfere with your phone’s ability to connect to GPS satellites. If the signal is blocked—either because you're indoors, underground, or due to another reason—GPS won't work.
  • Confirm that Bluetooth on your phone is turned on, and your device is connected under your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
  • Make sure that phone is within 30 feet of your device.
  • Make sure that your device can sync with the Fitbit app. For more information, see How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
  • Confirm that the Fitbit app can use your phone's GPS sensors. For more information, seeHow do I allow my Fitbit device to use my phone's GPS sensors?

Hope this helps.

I just walked 1.25 miles and earned 26 zone minutes (cardio and fat burn), but the heart zone data on the map screen still says not enough heart rate data. The GPS is working correctly and my map is correct. So how can I earn zone minutes if there's not enough heart rate data??

Best Answer

I followed all your suggestions and the Bluetooth is on, the device synced. The 1.25 mile walk was accurately mapped. I earned active minutes  that indicated cardio and fat burn minutes. However, the Heart Rate Zones still says "not enough heart rate data". How can this be if I get active minutes?

@Yarngirl52 Thank you for getting back. I appreciate that you mentioned the walk was accurately tracked.

In this case, let's try doing the following:

- Log out from the Fitbit app

- Clear the app cache

- Restart your phone

- Log back in

If after performing this troubleshooting, the workouts are still showing this, please attach a screenshot to your next reply.

Hope this helps.

In this case, let's try restarting your Versa 2, uninstall and reinstall your Fitbit app and monitor its functionality.

Hope this helps.

Don't know exactly what happened, but it's working now. Maybe the difference between tracking exercise thru the watch vs the app. However, IMHO, it shouldn't matter.

@Yarngirl52 Thank you for getting back.

When tracking a workout with the app, it shouldn't track heart rate and this could be the reason why it showed the previous message. However, when tracking a workout using connected GPS on your Versa 2, it will combine the data tracked from your watch and the GPS from the app.

Please double check that this procedure is being followed to track a workout:

  1. On your device, open the Exercise app

and swipe to find an exercise. If GPS is available, an icon appears in the top left as your device tries to connect.
  2. Tap the exercise to choose it.
  3. Tap the play icon

to start the exercise, or tap the flag icon (Ionic and Versa series only) to set a goal. If you set a goal, tap the play icon in the bottom right to start.
  4. Tap the middle of the screen to scroll through your real-time stats.
  5. To pause or end your workout, tap the pause icon. To resume, tap the play icon

. Note that if you set an exercise goal, your watch vibrates and flashes when you reach the goal.
  6. To end the workout, tap the flag icon

     and confirm.
  7. Review your workout summary, and exit the app.
  8. To see your GPS data, tap the Exercise tile

     in the Fitbit app.

Hope this helps.

Now I understand. When I read device, I thought phone, Fitbit app, Exercise. I don't think of my watch as my device.
