Feedback about Android 8/20 Fitbit app update

It is one thing for the App to take 30 minutes to update the device, but the fact that it requires the App to remain open the entire time is ridiculous. Worse, when a phone call comes in it resets the progress, meaning my phone has been hijacked for an hour, plus? People are working from home a lot, in case you haven't noticed. Phones are a factor in that. If you're going to hijack people's devices, there should be a much better warning. Better still, have the update function in the background, or at least some degree of pause functionality.

I actually hope this bricks my device, because it'll give me an excuse to just dump it in the e-waste bin the next time I'm at the grocery store.

This is absolutely bush league. Too bad I can't see what my blood pressure raised to as a result...

The app needs to be running in the background or foreground

Simply move the Fitbit app to the background before the phone goes dark. Sorry, but this is a limitation of Android

50 minutes for a software update is shameful work. 50 minutes of stealing someone's phone is egregious. This trash will not be repeated; I won't be updating this device like this ever again. Fix your update system to run in the background. Otherwise, if there's a future security flaw, I'll just put my FitBit in the microwave until I hear a pop to make sure the data is dead, and get rid of it.
