I just recently purchased my Fitbit Alta, and have it connected to my Galaxy S6 Edge. Everyday since I have had it, my battery is draining way faster than it used to. When I go to my battery usage in settings, the Fitbit app uses the most. I have the all day sync turned off, and the only thing that is on is the notifications as that is the main reason Ik bought the alta. Any suggestions on improving my battery life on my phone?

Same with my Blaze. I have a Note 5 and fitbit accounts for...... 34% of the battery usage so far at 1:21pm. Waddup, Fitbit!

Has anyone been able to resolve this? I just bought an Alta and have an S6 Edge, the additional battery drain is alarmingly bad.

Charge HR and Nexus 6P running Android 6.0.1 here. Same issue. Battery usage is pretty obscene, bordering on deal breaker.
How often the band and app sync has an impact on battery usage. How much time the Bluetooth radio is on if it otherwise would not does as well. But even with these two considerations mitigated, I find the app is not very well behaved when running in the background.
Edit: I disabled the Fitbit notification service, and I expect that to help further. You can do the same by going into Settings > Sound & notification > Notification access, then disabling the "Fitbit Notification Service". I fully understand that we should not have to disable features to obtain acceptable battery use.
I may start killing the app and just running it as needed. Obviously, I should not have to do that.
They released a new version of the app on March 29 (at least for my device), with only a vague reference to "bug fixes" (hey, typing is hard).

Hey all @SunsetRunner @4oh6Techie @Caffeinated @scottfoxus @AlanInAdams, welcome to the Fitbit Community !
I don't have an Android phone, but I do have the same Fitbit App on my iOS... so as we all may know, the Fitbit App is the same for all of the devices. Anyways, I went to my battery settings and even when I have 3 Fitbits paired to my account and I sync at least 4 times in a day and my app uses 1% of my phone's battery.
See my image below:
This is the percentage of the last 24 hours, but I check the last 7 days and still, it's showing 1%.
I also would recommend checking @Rich_Laue's advice about checking your phone's battery by going here.
Lastly, I suggest making sure that your "Nearby Device Scanning" or "Scanning" setting in your Android settings menu is turned OFF (as this affects battery in Marshmallow). Will look like the screenshots below.
Hope this helps!

Im on android(Marshmellow) and just checked my power usage, as for the Fitbit app it also is under or at 1%. I did notice Bluetooth is at 2%.
Now about that white indicator, i know that you will fond this on all origanal Samsung phones, maybe others also have this.

Correct @MarreFitbit, i have all day sync turned on with 3 trackers, always connected with the Blaze, yesterday i switched trackers 3 times. Now i will also add that i generally use 28-32 gig of cell data a month. So Fitbit is a very small percentage of tyis data. Fitbit has only used 116meg of internet traffic since May 13th.
That's not to say that sommelier people may have a sying battery, ands the extra load of the Fitbit is pushing it over the edge.
For me on Android, i see what you see on ios, but i dont have an Alta yet. Then again i haven't seen any othee posts on phone battery issues.

I purchased an Alta last week and paired it with a Samsung running Android 4.4. I had all the power saving recommendations selected but with notifications on. Each night, my phone battery was at 15-20%. This is in contrast to pairing with a Garmin Vivosmart (with smart notifications on) for the last 6 months and my battery would be at 50-60% at night. I had a friend try my Alta over the weekend with iOS with the same settings and she didn't have the battery issues I did.

My suggestion wpuld be to go into your phones songs amd see which apps are draining the battery, also check the Bluetooth battery drain.

Hey my friend @4oh6Techie, welcome aboard! I'd recommend what @Rich_Laue said previously. If that doesn't make any difference I'd totally suggest contacting your phone's provider since as you said your friend didn't have the same issue so it seems something more with the phone than the Alta.
Keep us posted!

Recently purchased Alta HR and connected it to my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact running Android 6.0.1.
Before my phone worked over 2 days on a single charge. Now Fitbit app drains battery enormously, see screenshot, more than 50% is drained by this app!
