I've only been awake for an hour and my Inspire has counted 280 steps (correct) and the App has counted 5000+ steps (!!!!?).
This is not the first time. Normally when the App and Inspire sync the App count overrides the Inspire count. How can this be adjusted to be correct? I use the Google Fit App as backup while preforming my "deliberate daily physical activity".

Thank you for visiting the Fitbit Community, @LesAnne1.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with your Fitbit Inspire. Thank you for the information provided.
If your Fitbit account is connected to a third party app or if you have manually logged an activity on your Fitbit account, please make sure the information in both cases doesn't match the time you were wearing your Inspire otherwise it could overwrite your data.
To try to resolve the issue please do the following:
If necessary, you can negate the extra data by manually logging a driving activity. For instructions, please visit this article and open the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".
Hope this helps.
