Fitbit App not scanning barcodes

I'm in the UK and I've just purchased a FitBit Inspire 3, but for some reason, the FitBit app doesn't seem to recognise any of the barcodes I've tried (and I've tried a lot!). It puts up a message such as "Barcode not recognised".  Does anyone know why this is, please?

Hello @TrishaB6 and welcome to the Community.  When you set up a new account, your Fitbit app should use the food database for your location.  These are the steps to check your database:

  • Tap on your profile avatar in the upper left of your Fitbit app
  • Swipe up on your screen until you see Activity & Wellness and tap on that
  • Tap on Nutrition & Weight
  • Verify your Food database

There is another potential issue if your database is set to UK.  Do you shop at a store like Aldi or Lidl?  Both are based in Germany and you must switch your food database to Germany to scan their house brand barcodes.  This is true for any store that isn't UK based.

@LZeeW Thanks so much for your input. That is exactly what needs to be done.

@TrishaB6 Welcome to the forums. I will gladly help you regarding the food log on the Fitbit app.

Please make sure that the database is selected to your region. Here you find instructions: . Try to log food via bar code after the change. Thanks in advance!

@LZeeW   Brilliant!

If you put your Fitbit on your ankle when you ride your spin bike, then you just don’t get it.
