Fitbit App v3.3 not sending notifications to Charge 3

Device: Charge 3

Mobile: Samsung s5, Android 6

I just allowed the Fitbit app to update to v3.3 and go with the new interface.

Notifications for texts are no longer being sent/received to my Charge 3. When I go into the app, Notifications tab, it says the Notification service is not running and the phone has to be restarted. I have. Three times. I also rebooted my watch. 

I also tried turning notifs off restarting my phone, then back on (that was the 3rd phone restart). Still doesn't work

Notifications were working fine before I switched to the new interface.

Always connected & Keep-Alive Widget are both on.

It would appear I figured it out.

Fitbit is such a large app and my phone has limited space, I moved it to the SD card. I always have. But this update doesn't appear to work properly if the app is not on the internal drive space.

I don't think that is the issue because my app has been on the external storage (SD) for the entirety and I am still having the same problem.
