Fitbit Ionic not syncing to Android, not vibrating on notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit Ionic has completely stopped vibrating on notifications, though I've got notifications and vibration turned on. If I check the Ionic when I know I've received a message by swiping down, I'll see the message, but I don't get the vibration or the pop up on the screen of the Ionic. I've tried restarting it, disconnecting it from my phone and reconnecting, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, removing the device from the app and replacing it but nothing has worked.

I'm also having syncing issues - at least half the time it's not syncing to the app. Sometimes the steps above fix it, but sometimes they don't, and it always reverts to not syncing. Currently it hasn't synced in about 20 hours.

If anyone has any suggestions about other things that might help, please let me know, but I seem to have tried everything and nothing is working, which makes the Ionic pretty useless to me at the moment.

Welcome to the Forums @ebstar1011.

Thanks for letting us know of all of the steps that you have tried to get your Ionic to sync and get notifications before posting.

In this case I'd like to ask some questions to better understand the situation:

  • What phone are you using and what Android version is it running?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Have you synced your Ionic with another device since this started or before it started?

Look forward to your reply.

Have to reset to sync.  Call s & text notifications rarely work.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S9+, running Android 8.0.0. It started happening several weeks ago, not sure exactly when. My phone software was updated recently but it was happening before that. I've not synced my Ionic with any other device since getting this phone (and it previously worked with this phone).

Hello @reenie1 and @ebstar1011.

@reenie1 I'd suggest that you try to follow the steps listed in this help article in regards to the syncing and this help article in regards to the notifications. They should definitely help.

If they do not, please answer the questions I shared above.

@ebstar1011 Thanks for answering those questions. Do you get some sort of error message when you try to sync and it fails?

As for the notifications, do they come into the Fitbit and it doesn't vibrate or do they not come into the Fitbit at all?

Look forward to your reply.

I am also having the same issues with my Fitbit Charge 3.  It is not sync or the app says Sync Error each time I try to sync with my fitbit.  It is frustrating because it didn't register yesterday's activities, but only today's and the days prior to Saturday...  I've already tried it on two different phones, reboot the fitbit, and it still doesn't sync at all!

With syncing, I get the basic red "Sync error, please try again" message.

As for notifications, they generally show up in the notifications list but I don't get a real-time notification, however it depends on the type. For example, I just got a text message and I didn't get a real-time notification, nor does it appear when I swipe down. With Allo, Whatsapp, BBC Sport and others, I don't get a real-time notification, but the message appears in the list when I swipe down if sync is working (and there's nothing in the swipe-down list if sync isn't working). Phone calls don't come through at all.

try restarting your Ionic several times. That may well fix all your issues. If it doesnt then try a Factory Reset (Settings app and scroll down to 'About').

Hello @reenie1@nateliv, and @ebstar1011. Welcome to the Forums @Tomoya808.

Thanks for letting me know that you are getting that error message,

@Tomoya808, in this case I'd like to ask what phone is it that you are using to try to sync with your Ionic.

In the meantime, please do try what @nateliv suggested as it should definitely help in getting your Fitbits to sync correctly.

Let me know if there are any further questions.

@LanuzaFitbit If you read my response more carefully, I stated my Fitbit Charge 3.  I am currently working with customer service worker Matthew through email after messaging the company through Facebook Messenger.

Hello @EDILÉA.

I'm afraid I don't fully understand what is it that you are mentioning.

Are you referring to being able to have 2 Ionics on the same account? In that case it is not possible since only one Fitbit Ionic, Versa o Charge 3 on one account.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
