Fitbit app asks for a software payment

My wife and I purchased fitbits, downloaded the same software onto each of our Android phones. I have not had a problem or request for software payment ... which I do not feel there should be a charge for, should be included in price of Fitbit. But wife has ongoing problems, not linking and syncing and it keeps demanding payment for software and software upgrades.  Why ?  Why is she getting demands for payment?  Just seems like a rip off scam ... only on one Fitbit and the other for one!

Hi @VMK3  you and the wife have the same models? I know that you can purchase third party watch faces, which would require payment. What platform you use Android, iOS or Windows? I can't speak for the company, but Fitbit can, so I'm notifying a moderator to stop by to assist you with this issue.

Hi @VMK3. It's nice to see a new member around. @Odyssey13, thank you so much for bringing this to my attention!

@VMK3, I'm glad that you and your wife are part of the Fitbit family, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience that you've had with her Fitbit app. As @Odyssey13, the Fitbit app can be downloaded for free to log and sync your details. There are other services that may ask for a payment, such as Fitbit Coach. That being said, make sure you downloaded the official Fitbit app for Android in her phone and provide me with the model of her Fitbit device. Also provide take a screenshot of the required payment and attach it in your reply. This way I can further investigate this situation.

Keep me posted!
