Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the Google App play store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/23

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

The new dashboard is terrible and is missing a lot of the detailed info of the old dashboard. How do I go back to the original dashboard and get rid of this? 1-star review in the app store for this terrible update.

I want to see more detail regarding my sleep data and weight (body fat) without having to click through every single tile. I'm very disappointed in Fitbit putting out a regressive update like this.

This new dashboard is indeed a disaster. Some people have been able to
reload an earlier software version. Possibly you can find it in previous
comments or can get instructions off-site. Apparently, the post containing
the hack to an earlier version is usually removed. Best of luck.

@c8m what stats are missing from the new dashboard.

Two things that were not on the old dashboard are the challenges and the lower tiles now switch days with the upper tiles. Both of which where requested by the Fitbit users.

I got the new Dashboard yesterday.

Even though I miss the old flashy green icons for accomplished goals, I like the new design.

One additional note: It would be nice to move some stats like the weekly exercises or heart rate into the Activity hub or creating your own hub.

I no longer have “light, deep, and REM” sleep stages. The only thing
recoded and showing in either dashboard or log is hours slept. On the new
dashboard when I click on the sleep tile and click on “more,” I get the bar
graph on the log with hours slept. Using the dashboard when I click on the
sleep tile and choose the settings icon, the sleep tile flips and I get
“Time asleep goal.” I can find nowhere sleep stages, something I did have
in the past. I have reset my versa countless times as well as uninstalling
and reinstalling the software.

Just arrived in the Netherlands, after reading all the comments I was hesitating accepting the new design. But however the main page changed, the lower level screens are still the same. I'll give it a shot I guess..

I want the old version back!!!

As a person with low vision, I have a difficult time reading my Charge 3 while exercising. The one stat I'm interested in while working out is my heart rate. I used to be able to see it just barely on the old app design. I cannot read the number at all in the new app. I wish there was a way to make it as large as the main item in the today section. Thanks...

Okay, so they updated the mobile dashboard. Fine. It's not that much different. Functions about the same. Seems hardly worth the money and resources to implement it, but whatever.

What they didn't do: Fix the multitude of issues with the rest of the app. The food log is still full of all the same glitches and bugs and annoyances that have remained through update after update for years now. EXAMPLE. All these issues being complained about and instead they spend their time and money fixing something that wasn't broken.

I've lost all confidence in Fitbit at this point. They are the only tech company I can think of that degrades their products over time instead of improving them.

I got the new update today, and going by the comments, thought to my self, do I want to update

So, I updated to the new dashboard, and in all honesty I do like it, not had any problems, and I only use the tiles that I need or want

Fyi the app interface is not new. They have a much more functional and attractive version 3 years ago v2.47, when they were a good company. Now they're just running in circles and running out of money and ways to monetise, as innovation and function are no longer an option.

So they regurgitated it in order to slap on a pay wall. Screenshot_20190816-101702_Fitbit_edited.jpg

Did you make a conscious decision to make it wildly unintuitive to get to new clock faces while pushing apps? Meanwhile, you've not addressed the most basic functionality needed to make trying out new faces fun.

Do you think we want to choose one clock face for the life of the watch, the way we might choose 24 hour time or Celsius vs. Fahrenheit? If so, I think you are vastly underestimating the importance to many of us of being able to change our clock faces.

So, if I am looking for a new clock face, why would I look under "Account"? That normally is for information about my relationship as a customer with FitBit. Normally that is info we rarely change.

Once in Account, why would I click on the Ionic icon? I'd expect that to be for account info specific to this device, such as the device serial number, version number, etc. Instead, I get what is basically the old app.

So, good job burying the clock faces!

Second, you still have not provided us with a way to remember prior clock face choices. This discourages experimentation, since I have no way of finding prior faces except by scrolling through long lists of them. I won't even mention being able to store multiple faces on the watch itself. (Ok, so I did mention it.)

Based on how well you've hidden the faces and your adding zero improvements to your prior face interace, I take it that you don't consider having multiple, switchable clock faces to be an important part of the Ionic experience.

That is an important feature to me. So my next watch will not be a Fitbit.

Hi davidjoho,

Intuitive is not a word in fitbit dictionary.

Some settings and information are available on watch, some in the fitbit app other information is only available by logging in to website - what's the logic in that?

I have avoided the new fitbit experience are you saying that a function that was readily available via the "watch icon" from the fitbit app in the old experience is now buried elsewhere?

Best Answer

Yes, that's correct. To get to the clock face function, click on the icon
in the upper left corner of the home screen of the app. Choose Account.
Then choose the Ionic icon on the list, and you'll find yourself at a
reduced-functionality version of the old app.

Really glad I declined the "new experience" expect it will be forced on me at some stage.

I am not voluntarily updating anything.

Fitbit has said they will get around to updating everyone.

You can run, but you can't hide. Or find the clock faces

Hello @silvermetis. let's see what the dictionary says about intuitive. Un being a prefix meaning not is often added to a word. Actually the dashboard 3 years ago was well hated when it came out 5 years ago.

@davidjoho I disagree this new dashboard I find very intuitive.

I'm still using this version of the app on my Galaxy Note 8. Still the best version of the FitBit app. Screenshot_20190817-140625_Fitbit.jpg

Hi Rich_Laue,

The penultimate dashboard was a vast improvement on the antepenultimate dashboard which was little more than a list.

I stand by my statement about intuitive - what is intuitive about placing a track under "track excercise"` in the app but access to the download of that track only on the fitbit website.

There are many other examples
