Fitbit stopped supporting Fitbit Tracker built into HTC M8 for no reason

As we all know there is a Fitbit Tracker built into the HTC M8 handset. This was discussed in the "MobileTrack compatibility and support" thread, starting page 5. @ErickFitbit has first promised some answers, but now has closed the thread. As the issue is still open and unanswered I open a new thread.

Story so far:

Fact 1: Fitbit stopped supporting the Fitbit tracker built into the HTC M8 without warning and for no technical reason.

Fact 2: Fitbit recommends buying new fitbit hardware as a "solution"

Fact 3: Using HTC M8 as a mobile tracker works by installing an old version of fitbit app and never update again - so there is a solution.

Fact 4: Using the old app means no new features, so I will never ever be able to buy any new hardware from fitbit (because there is no garantiee that the new hardware will work with the old app. Which we cannot update)

So its a question of fitbit policy. Is it ether

1. Fitbit brakes perfectly working products to force happy users to  buy new stuff

Will you brake the Flex tomorrow and the "solution" is to buy the Alta? Why not? You did it with the M8 tracker

or is it

2. Fitbit want users of the HTC M8 to not buy any new hardware from fitbit.

Which we cant because we cant update the app.

The official reply is help article http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1875/ which states "Recently, Google and HTC made some changes that prevents the MobileTrack feature from functioning properly in the Fitbit app for Android on the HTC One M8 device." which of course is not true (or at least not logical sound) because of the following facts:

Who has changed something so the Fitbit tracker built into the HTC M8 stopped working:

HTC: No

Google: No

Fitbit: Yes

Who can fix the problem, so the Fitbit tracker inside the HTC M8 will work again with the fitbit app

HTC: No

Google: No

Fitbit: Yes

Who made some changes according to the "official fitbit statement":

HTC: Yes

Google: Yes

Fitbit: No

Questions still remain:

1) Is this decision final? If so please tell us, so we can all move on and buy stuff from your competitors.

2) Will you also stop supporting the Flex tomorrow and the "solution" is to buy the Alta? Why not? You did it with the M8 tracker!

On 6/17/16 @ErickFitbit promised to move our concerns to the android team and come back with any updates. Without further notice @ErickFitbit closed the thread today.

@loosegravel Updates regarding this can be found here. Currently, the only mobile devices supported with MobileTrack are the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.

@ErickFitbit this is the tread you have closed without answering the questions. So refering to this thread (once again) does not give any new information.

PLEASE simply answer the questions, or find someone who can.

I don't know if you just didn't read loosegravel's post or you don't have the autorization to answer it in full, but refering to the same simplistic article isn't answering his, or anyone else's question. As a Computer Science student, even just as someone who is reasonably technologically literate, I would like to see more details than just being told that Google and HTC's magic gnomes that make it all work decided to stop showing up. As loosegravel stated, since previous versions of the Fitbit app still track steps as before, it would seem that the only changes that have happened are on Fitbit's end.

A brief statement from a developer explaining how something that is working just fine actually isn't, is what we're looking for. If that can't be produced because the real reason is that a 2-year contract ended and you're hoping that this will encourage users to buy a dedicated tracker, please just come out and say that.

We're not as dumb as you think we are.

There are two ways this stands:

1. You're telling the truth and your developers can't maintain compatibility, decreasing trust in Fitbit's product quality.

2. You're lying and refuse to come clean about it decreasing trust in Fitbit's ethics.
