Food logs amounts keep resetting back

Hi.

When I try to enter the amount number of the food (if it needs to be changed from previous) it keeps resetting back to the previously entered number. Annoying to say the least.
To me, it seems that the app is pulling the info from the cloud and doesn't realize that I'm in the middle of editing the value and keeps resetting it back every second.
It eventually stops and lets me edit it. So every time I have to wait for a moment before the app calms down.

You will not lose everything. When you synch data is stored on fitbit servers via your phone. Clearing the cache of the app has never made any difference to me. But if you are worried synch first. Then if anything did go awry it will be restored from fitbits servers when you next sync.

This thread is a couple years old, but I've been having exactly the same issue for several weeks.  I tried the "best answer" as indicated in this thread, which was to log out of the app and log back in.  That helped a little bit, but the value would still revert once or twice, especially with the first food I would enter.

But, starting yesterday (1/25/2021), I noticed that this is *not* happening any more.  The data entry field where you enter the number used to be underlined, and now it's not.  That doesn't mean much, but it means something changed.  When I tap on the field it get's underlined (I think that means it gets editable), and then I can change the value.  The value always appears to be the previous value I used for that food, which is a helpful starting point.  More importantly, it does not revert to that value after I start typing the new value.  Maybe the value is coming from the app's cache rather than from an API call to the server.  Who knows.  But it looks like this is solved.

I saw at the Google Play store that this app was updated on 1/21/2021 or so; maybe that's when they fixed this problem.

Well I misspoke.  It seemed to me this problem was fixed, but it's been happening to me with a vengeance in recent days.  I try to enter my data and it reverts three or four times to the previous value before it accepts my new data.  Darn.

I had this too, so I stopped entering. I also could not go to a past day to
enter, because it would put in today's food.
thx

yep, same thing's happening to me too and logging out then clearing cache did not fix the issue.

I have to wait about half a minute for the behavior to stop before I can enter values.

There are certain scenarios where I tried to push past it and it made the calorie counter go super crazy.   (ie.   I'm putting 35 grams of baby spinach and fighting against the counter reset.   When I finally finish putting in 35g, it says that's 1000 calories)

Would be nice to have a fix for this.

I've only been dealing with this bug for five months, but it's it's been around for almost five years?!  Oof.  Bugs unfixed for months could be developer or tech problems, but bugs unfixed for years... that's symptomatic of managers who don't listen.

Agreed!
I switched to an iPhone, and the bug doesn’t exist. So it seems they’re not
listening to the Android users.

Multiple attempts, three different phones, almost 5 years later, and THIS IS STILL NOT FIXED!
Fitbit is all gloss, no substance.  Please fix these basic problems.
