Friends show incorrectly as inactive

Several of my friends are showing inactive even when I know they aren't. Every time I look one up for a challenge or to message, I have to go to inactive friends to select them. At first, I thought maybe it was ones that were new but some have been active for quite a while. Is it something on my end or theirs? If its my end, how can I fix it?

@Jonnygiraffe3 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! This is odd. Do they have multiple Fitbit accounts? Try logging out from the app, restart your phone and log back in. Additionally you could try removing one friend with this issue then add them back and check if they also show as inactive on the website at Fitbit.com.

Thank you for your recommendations. It is very odd. The friends that were showing inactive only have one account. I just got a new friend thats had it a while and is showing up the same way. I logged out and back in and now ALL of them show inactive. And its only when I try to add them to challenges. When I go to community and then friends, it shows their 7 day steps. Its very strange.

Wow. I didnt realize I was showing as inactive until someone told me this morning. How disappointing to come to the forum and realize this has been a problem since 2014...and there is no solution.

I'm also frustrated with this.  Every time I do a challenge, which is daily, I have to go to inactive friends to add my daughter to the challenge.  WHY?

Has anyone looked in the inactive concerns.  All my friends are showing inactive.  How do you refresh or update?

I have restarted everything, looked I to settings, etc. This is a huge issue.

 

It is an even bigger issue that these replies are going unanswered! Are you guys working on this?  This started immediately after setting up the charge 3 for me.

Same problem.  People are using their Fitbits but show under friends on my phone as inactive. Especially if they are not in top 50. If you go to the dashboard on a PC it shows their steps. It is annoying! How a out some new trail challenges too!! Same ones for too long!

I tried updating. No luck. Then I uninstalled and reloaded the app. Now all friends are inactive.  

 

Fitbit might be a thing of the past if can't fix it.

This suggestion doesn't work. Always have to search inactive friends regardless of logging out/in or rebooting.

I have the same issue - android app 

all my "new" friends and many old ones are inactive 

its so complicated, I just rechallenge each week 

would be nice to have it fixed

Yeah this bug is quite old and has not been fixed, yet. Unfortunately.
