I ride the same route to and  from work daily  but  always  see a different distance  every time. It is  approximatly  13  km  ride but  has shown up as low as  10 km ride? It shows  the  same  start point , route and  finish line but different total distance. With the  distance  continuly changing  it must be  sqewing my stats  . accuracy  +-  25% is  awful. can this be  fixed?

@johnyd Welcome to the forums. Thanks for reaching out regarding the GPS distance on the Fitbit app and the explanation.

Do you see any differences in the whole route? Zig zag patterns at some point during the route?

I recommend you try the tips in the following help article: . Scroll down and there you find the best practices and some troubleshooting tips. Try these out and check the next GPS training you log.

No, I ride  the  same  route both directions .  i see the corrrect path on my route as i took it,  with  no irregularities except  for varying total distances.

My fit bit connects  without issue to my android 6 ( i have  reviewed  your how too suggestion/tips ) and both are  updated with current firmwares .

None of these steps solved the problem. I have stopped using it to start my routine tracking and distance is always the same . Now  another problem/s has come up .it has stopped tracking my heart rate completely. During my trouble shooting of that problem my versa 2 touch screen is now inoperative to touch. Trying to reboot and factory reset it is in a reboot loop that will not stop. How do I find out if it's still under warranty?       All of the reboot loop diagnostics require a touchable touch screen.  It's now a brick.

Ï find really absurd that this question by @johnyd is marked as solved when even the same OP said it is not solved.

The right answer is that any Fitbit tracker use an algorithm to caulcale the distance that doesn't use much GPS rather the steps so if your pace is changing between runs or even in the same run then the distance can be, as you experienced, completely wrong. To verify this it is sufficient to export the tcx and analyse them with an external tool and you will see that the distances match quite accurately.

However now it seems that this problem is superseded by recent events, I don't know how to help you but if you're into running it might be a good idea to start to look elsewhere.

working on this  with  support  over  twitter  OMG but i think they have  gone  to bed  as  no  replies  in 2 hours. small progress .managed  to  complete  a horribly  painful factory reset and  trying  to reinitialize it to see if the  screen  is working  again. update  by  blue tooth as wifi would not connect .  bluetooth  very slow.
