GPS stopped tracking my run

Hi all
I have had my fitbit charge 2 for a while, and been using it to just keep track of my daily steps
Today I decided to start running and figured id use the fitbit to track it as well
So started a run event on the watch, and off I went

Got back home and checked the app, and it shows it only logged 2/3 of the run
I checked online, and I can see that the time was logged fine, but when I scroll though the run, about 2/3 though the gps log stops and just says I was in the same place for the last bit of the run
The pace and heart rate are logged properly, but the location stays in the same spot

My guess is the fitbit disconnected from my phone so lost GPS signal, but im not sure why
Iv read though other posts, and have some ideas about keeping the phone on the same side as the watch (which im fairly sure I did), and not pausing the run (which I didnt do this morning)

Is there some settings I can check to keep it connected? or stop it happening again in future?

Thanks

Welcome, @pomtom44. It's nice to have you on board.

Thanks for the details about the GPS connectivity. Based on your description, it seems that your phone lost connection and for that reason the map is only showing part of the route. Different factors can affect the GPS connectivity, so I recommend you to check this help article: How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device? for more details of what can affect the GPS and tips to improve connectivity.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply
Yes that would be my guess as well
I had a look at the link you posted and found the fitbit app was set to allow location only while using the app, so changed that to all the time to see if that helps
Will try again on my next run

also a bug on the website
Under phone connected GPS, requirements, Andriod Phones number 2
"Confirm that background app refresh is turned on for the fitbit app"
The "See the google help article" links to an apple page, not a andriod / google page

Hi, @pomtom44.

Thanks for the update and this time your phone should track properly your exercise. Regarding the link, on the help article there are 2 links: One for Apple Support and the other for Android Support because the steps to force close an app are different on both devices. I checked the link and it takes you to the "Find, open & close apps on Android" page on Google Support's website.

Thanks for stopping by, see you around!

Hello, @pomtom44.

I think that you're referring to this part of the article:

If that's the case, the link will take you to the Apple Support page because these instructions are for iPhone users.

See you around.
