Getting sleep patterns instead of sleep stages

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For the last four nights the app has said it couldn't generate sleep stages for this sleep.

I can see full heart rate data for the time I was asleep.

I am wearing my Fitbit to bed the same as I always do. Nothing has changed on my end except for the sync problems introduced in the last app update. And also I haven't been sleeping very well, I don't know if that could confuse it - if I lie in bed for 4 hours awake then the sleep it detects includes that period.

Any ideas?

Hi @adebaser, welcome on board. It's nice to see a new member around.

Thanks for the information provided, as well for making sure you're getting heart rate readings. I'm sorry that you've gone through this situation, and let's work on this together. Anytime your device detects inactivity for more than 1 hour, it'll take it as if you're sleeping. This is why you can see sleep details even if you're just laying out.

Now, to get sleep stages you'll need to sleep for more than 3 hours so your device can gather enough information. That being said, please make sure the following factors that prevent you from getting sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, try wearing your device as described in this help article.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed).
  • If your Fitbit device or Fitbit app aren't updated to the latest version.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

If this doesn't apply to you, I'd recommend to try the following steps:

  1. Turn off the heart rate settings, and sync with the Fitbit app.
  2. Restart your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn back on the heart rate settings, and sync one more time.
  4. On the Fitbit app, tap the Account icon > Fitbit device.
  5. Make sure the "All day sync" is enabled.

Let me know how it goes.Smiley Happy

I put the strap one hole tighter and it has tracked my sleep stages for the last two nights. I must have somehow lost weight and made my wrists smaller...

Hi @adebaser. I'm glad to see you here again. I'm sorry for my delayed response.

Thanks for trying to tight the band on your wrist and I'm glad that you got sleep stages! You did a good job and keep using the band in that way when sleeping so you can receive your sleep details. By the way, I'd like to invite you to visit our Discussion Board where you can share your experiences, meet people and create new topics.

Catch you later! Woman Very Happy
