Google Pixel 2 steps don't match with Fitbit app

For about a month now, step syncing between my Pixel 2 watch and Pixel 6 Pro has been broken. They start everyday syncing correctly. Somewhere it loses sync. For example, right now my watch has logged 4195 steps. When I sync to the phone, it says 4040 steps. This has been happening everyday. I've seen the discrepancy of several hundred steps by the end of the day. The phone always lags the watch no matter how many times I manually reset and sync. So, something serious is broken.

I've given up. After being on with support who fixed the step syncing, the Pixel watch 2 also goes crazy measuring my heart rate when I'm exercising going as much as 30bpm above actual. I've now gone back to my garmin which doesn't have all this hassle.

For the last week, the steps on my watch have matched the steps on my Fitbit app, though sometimes I do have to manually sync the Fitbit app a couple of times to get the steps to sync. In either case, this is the longest the steps have been properly synced in well over two months, so I'm starting to feel pretty confident that Google finally got this fixed!

Mine has been synching yesterday's data as today's.  This is extremely frustrating as I'm using my FitBit for a university class!

I wish I could say I'm surprised, but... the problem has returned and is worse than ever before!😭😡 watch shows 8,606 steps and the app only shows 7,259. UGH.

I got an update for the Fitbit Today app on my Pixel Watch 3 yesterday (26 Nov 2024). Although I haven't seen confirmation that it has the fix for step syncing, please let us know if it helped.

@RiekoC unfortunately the Pixel Watch Fitbit update didn't fix the issue. I'm perplexed because this issue was fixed for 2-3 weeks before it reappeared randomly. I have a feeling the issue is much deeper than just the Fitbit app unfortunately, I just wish they could figure it out.

We're submitting reports of step count issues with the Pixel watch, as requested by the team. I'm continuing to monitor the issue and will let you know if there are any updates. I'm really hoping that they can get a permanent fix with a Fitbit app update.

Same here. Was finally working for a while and it's now not syncing again. Not sure why this is so hard to fix. Seems like the absolute basic feature of step tracking should be easy, but I guess not. I don't even bother looking at the app much anymore because it just annoys me that it doesn't match the watch.
