Google Pixel Watch 4 - SpO2 and Skin temperature issues

ANSWERED

Hello all,

since the last updates (system + Fitbit app) my pixel watch 4 is not detecting blood oxygen and skin variation temp anymore. From the watch, in the Fitbit app is just showing "analyzing". After sometime is just saying "no data", suggesting to wear it during the night, ofc I did. Restarting and clearing the cache is not solved.

Do you have any hints?

I would like to inform that yesterday I received a Fitbit app update on my pixel watch and this morning I have those data back. So for now the issue seems resolved.

Thank you

Hello @Raffaele85

Sorry to see that you're not getting your blood oxygen and skin temp variation metrics.

Although I'm not sure that this will work, you could try setting up your Pixel Watch as a new device in the Fitbit app. Basically, you're doing the setup process as if the Watch was brand new.

  • Tap the device icon in the upper left of the Today page
  • Tap Add more devices at the bottom of the page that opened
  • Scroll and look for Pixel Watch 4 and tap on it.
  • Select Yes when you get the prompt asking if you want to replace the Pixel Watch.
  • Follow the prompts to set up the Pixel Watch 4 as if it was a brand new device.

Sometimes, doing a fresh setup can clear out the issue.

If you try this, please let us know if it worked for you.

I can’t confirm that. The issue with SpO2 has existed since the release of the Pixel Watch 4, and it still hasn’t been fully fixed. It’s more a matter of luck whether readings are taken at all; most of the time, the Pixel Watch 4 is simply extremely unreliable.

I’ve made my decision: this will be my last Google device. I will contact the support to get my money back.

Ah, and one more thing: sleep tracking hasn’t worked reliably since launch either. (Hey Pixel Watch, I definitely sleep more than 6 hours... a week.) And right now it also seems like the calorie estimate is broken and is outputting doubled values.

When can paying customers expect a product that actually works?

Hi everyone!

The recent issue with SpO2 and Skin temp data is now resolved. To continue viewing your SpO2 and skin temperature data

1.) Update your Wear app on the Google Play store to version 3.55.1.1 or higher OR

2.) Manually enable permissions in the Watch settings by following the steps below:

  • Swipe down on watch > Settings :gear: > Apps & notifications > App permissions > Fitness and wellness

Find both Oxygen saturation (Fitbit) and Skin temperature (Fitbit)  and change the permission to Allow.

Please let us know how it goes.

No, it is not resolved. I am on version 3.55.1.1 (the update came on March 9), and I still have no SpO2 values. The Fitbit app does not even appear in the permission settings, so I cannot manually grant any permissions there. Do you even have testers and quality control?

Even after reset the Pixel Watch 4 not recording any SP02 data. Problem still exsists!

Sadly not my experience

Hello @BradMae , @ThreeM

Like you, I wasn't getting SpO2 or skin temp data after installing the March update on my Pixel Watch. Another PE told me to check the Fitbit app permissions on my watch. When I did, I discovered the Pixel Watch March update had turned off the permissions for SpO2 and skin temp variation. After I turned them back on, I started getting data again.

Here's the pathway that I took to get to the Fitbit permissions:

  • Tap Settings icon on the Pixel Watch
  • Tap Apps & notifications
  • Tap App info
  • Tap System Apps
  • Scroll & tap on Fitbit
  • Tap Permissions
  • Tap Fitness & wellness
  • Tap Select all
  • Swipe up and under Allowed to access, tap All the time

It's important to allow access all the time, not While using the app. Otherwise, you still won't get SpO2 and skin temp variation data.

still not working

I also tried everything recommended, reconnected the watch, gave permissions and turned it off and on a million times.

actually after force closing the fit bit app on the watch it's now telling me to sleep with the watch. which is new compared to "no data" it was giving me before.

hopefully I can report back tomorrow

edit: it worked tonight. what a horrible experience
