Heart rate incorrect

It seems that my Heart rate is off on my fitbit. I use this a lot during workouts. When my heart is racing it says I'm at 99-105 and when I'm barely moving around it's 165. When I am on a treadmill I will compare and it's always off by quite a bit. What should I do?

Hi there @Fitmamaof2, nice to have you around as a new member of the Fitbit Community! I saw your tracker is recording your heart rate quite off.

I would recommend the basic here, since as you know heart rate might be affected for different factors like personal physiology, location of wear, and type of movement. Experiment with wearing the device higher on your wrist during exercise for an improved fit and more accurate heart-rate reading.

Also do not wear your device too tight; a tight band restricts blood flow, potentially affecting the heart-rate signal.

Other instances where the heart rate may present issues is with high-intensity interval training and other activities where your wrist is moving vigorously and non-rhythmically, the movement may prevent the sensor from finding an accurate heart rate. Similarly, with exercises such as weight lifting or rowing, your wrist muscles may flex in such a way that the band tightens and loosens during exercise. Try relaxing your wrist and staying still briefly (about 10 seconds), after which you should see an accurate heart-rate reading.

Note that your device will still provide accurate calorie burn readings during these types of exercise by analyzing your heart rate trends over the course of the workout.

Keep me posted how it goes, I'll be around in case the issue persists.
