How do I change my step count goal?

The step counts seem to be okay, but it's showing that my step count goal is 0. I can't find anyplace to change to my correct step count goal. Is this due to yesterday's updated app?

My daily step target has adjusted itself to zero steps. I was told to go into Activity Settings where I can adjust the target there. The option is on my wife's app, but not on mine. Both have Google phones and same app version?? Any ideas on how to resolve this. Whilst it's great to wake up to being told I've hit my step target for the day, I'd like it to be a tad higher!!

Hi there, @jerseystar.

I'm glad your step count is showing correctly and to change your daily goal, please give a try to the following:

  1. Open the Fitbit app, tap the You tab
  2. Scroll down to Goals and tap See all
  3. Tap the goal you want to edit
  4. Edit the value of the desired goal and tap Set Goal
  5. Go back to the Today tab and pull down on the screen to force a manual sync

By the way, I've moved your post to the Android board. This is because your question relates to a different issue, and this will help us to prevent any confusion for other members.

Thank you for responding. However, I have done exactly what you said and the Goals list does not include number of steps or total distance. All that is listed is Sleep (bedtime, wake time, sleep duration); Activity (exercise days, hourly activity); Health; Weight; Body fat percentage; Mindfulness; Mindful days; Nutrition; Food; Water. When I go to Today, the dot on the circle around the step icon starts to move, as if the goal is 8000 steps (what I had originally set) and then it slides right back to the start because it says my goal is 0 steps. This has only been occurring for the past few days -- I assume since the latest app update.

I have the same issue and that also doesn't work as the step goal does not come up

Seeing exactly the same no way to edit target step count.

Graphics for Steps, miles and cal all sweep round then go back to zero though actual data still show in numbers.

Hello @jerseystar

Which version of the Fitbit app do you have? I'm on version 4.38 and see categories under Activity that you apparently aren't seeing:

  • Exercise days
  • Active Zone Minutes
  • Steps
  • Hourly Activity
  • Distance
  • Energy burned

Hello @Antoeknee

Are you seeing the same list as @jerseystar under Activity when you tap on the You tab and tap on Goals > See all?

Hello @Antoeknee

Thanks for confirming you've got app version 4.39 & that your wife on app version 4.38 sees the full list of goals.

Hi@LizzyFitbit

I saw another user report the same issue (<-- click link) & asked them which app version they have.

Hello @Haywooddiablo & @JJFit40

Which version of the Fitbit app do you have? Did you recently update to version 4.39?

---

Hi @DavidFitbit

I'm starting to see other users reporting the same issue, where goals aren't visible in the app. It seems that this problem might be related to app version 4.39

My Android phone had an update installed today and since then my step goal, active minutes and calories burned goals have all reset.  Step goal is now zero, down from 11k, active minutes at 22 instead of 30 and the app only lists two activity goals to set.

App version is 4.39

I've rebooted the phone and Fitbit twice to try and restore step goals but have been unsuccessful.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I suddenly noticed that on my app I no longer have goal steps and goal distance to walk.

This morning I have 42 of 0 steps... instead of 42 of 8000. I go to my Actvity Settings where I can change my hourly activity or exersise days, I thought I could change my step goal there.
Did that setting move somewhere? Did daily step goal get set to 0 for others as well?

Hi @RiekoC, thanks for your response. You're correct. I've had the issue since the 17th of March which is when I've noticed that the app was updated to v4.39. Highly likely that it's related to this update!

Hi @KristenEhren   Fitbit is aware of this bug in the Android version of the app.

So as I suspected, this does seem to be related to the latest update to 4.39. And someone said below that Fitbit is aware of this. How soon for a fix?

Thanks!

Apparently the app update (4.39) has a bug which removed the step and distance goals. I've been told that Fitbit is aware of this problem and is working on it (I hope). There are several other threads on the Android community board about this problem.
