How do I manually log an activity or exercise through the Fitbit App?

Why manual tracking?

For trackers that support heart rate monitoring, they take heart rate into account when calculating calories burned, so even if an activity doesn't count steps, you still get calorie count information.

Manually logging an activity works well when step count isn't the best indicator of the calories burned. If you are doing an activity that does not require steps (like cycling or using an elliptical machine), or an activity that requires more than just steps (like tennis or yoga), logging the activity manually improves the accuracy of this activity's contribution to your caloric burn.

Here's how to log an activity through the Fitbit App for Android:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Exercise tile. This is the tile that says “Track exercise,” or, if you already tracked an exercise today, shows the exercise type and information.
  2. Tap the stopwatch icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap Log Previous.
  4. Adjust the activity details and tap Log It.

Here's how to edit or delete an activity log through the Fitbit App for Android:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Exercise tile. This is the tile that says “Track exercise,” or, if you already tracked an exercise today, shows the exercise type and information.
  2. Tap the exercise you want to delete.
  3. Tap the trash can icon in the top right corner.
