How do I delete a friend using the app on my Android phone? This has not been made easy and I'm afraid it's a security concern.

Hi, @Toofat1530! Go into the community tab at the bottom of the app, the friends tab, and click the friend you want to delete. At the top of the screen, tap the three dots icon and click remove or block, depending on your preference.
