I need to stop the Fitbit app from taking over plain text NFC tags. I store medical data on a plain text NFC tag like a medic alert bracelet. Recently when I attempted to read the data, it opens Fitbit app instead of pulling up my data. Since I have an older Fitbit, it doesn't even have an NFC chip anyways. I need to disable this feature in the app.

In a non modified android version these are all the NFC settings you can access as a user:
As you may notice, there is no "default app" or similar for setting for NFC. The "DEFAULT NFC METHOD" setting changes nothing about the behavior of the Fitbit app, it still opens up every time an NFC-Tag with Text stored on it is read.
After all the Fitbit app actively uses NFC as a "feature" where you can tap your Fitbit (Flex) to the back of your phone which starts syncing the two devices. The permission "control Near-Field Communication" can be seen by clicking on the button at the top right corner of the permission screen, which let's you see "all permissions" and where the Fitbit app clearly has this permission.
This permission can not be denied as a normal user on a non modified Android version as far as i know.
tldr: There is no "setting" or "fix" and if you want to use other nfc devices besides your Fitbit you have to uninstall the Fitbit app as far as i know.

Is there any update on this? I've just bought a whole lot of NFC tags and Fitbit opens whenever the phone scans the tag. I can confirm what others are saying - it happens on any NFC tag with a text field.
Please fix this asap, as it means at the moment I have to uninstall the Fitbit app if I want to use the tags!

Yep, same here. What a ridiculous feature. I tried forcing the app to stop, removing all permissions, forcing the NFC tag to launch a specific app. The only option is to uninstall the Fitbit app.

Ah, I lied. Opening an app with the NFC tag will work. It's not my intended us, but just a FYI.

Was really hoping yesterday's update would address this issue.
Nope.

I don't own a Fitbit, but I'm here to join the club of people affected by this issue. I'm tired of having guests' phones launch the Fitbit app instead of my NFC tags working as intended.
