My sister wants to sign up for Fitbit like the rest of our family has, but she has a supervised Google account so Fitbit said she couldn't have her own account. I've looked into it an I could set her up with a kids Fitbit account, but apparently that only works with the kids tracker, and she wants a nice tracker like we have. She is an adult and mostly manages her own life, but we are not switching her to a normal google account due to disabilities; this arrangement works for us. Is there a way for her to get a Fitbit account, or do I need her to sign up for a basic Fitbit account the "old fashioned" way without her Google account and ignore the fact that Fitbit is working on switching over to syncing everything with Google accounts?

@sarawithanh The way I read the Fitbit Setup Requirements, you are stuck in an impossible situation. All new accounts must be Google accounts. There's no "old fashioned way" for new accounts.

I used this link to creat an.account for my son. I am still in the process but hopefully it works. Just do not link it to the Google account.

Just got off the phone with support, Google doesnt have a fix for this at this time. It seems like there was an oversight on the google account rollover. I would suggest calling in and getting your main account on a notification list specifically about this issue.

The fact that Fitbit does not make this clear before you buy the device knowing that people do sometimes buy these devices for their children (there are posts going back at least three years about this) is ridiculous. I'm sure retailers love getting returns not because something is wrong with the device they but because the service they comes along with them excludes a user group without telling purchasers up front.

I used the old fashioned way for my children who have supervised Google accounts: use their phone to go to fitbit.com/signup and make an account that way not linking it to their Google account but still using their Google Gmail address to sign up. They'll send an email verification and then you can log them in using the Fitbit app and those login credentials you just set up. It's not linked to their Google account officially but I don't see any real benefit they'll be missing out on. Hopefully Fitbit comes up with a fix for this before it becomes an issue.
