Huawei P9 & Lite Compatibility

I have a surge paired to a Huawei p8. I have tried all the different fixes listed in various forums. I have notification on in the all on my phone set to Huawei contacts. I have notifications on on my surge. I get absolutely nothing. Anyone with a P8 solved this problem. I have later Android and fitbit versions.

also extremely unhelpful to direct to list of compatible devices - are you suggesting we go and buy new smartphones on top of the money spent on the fitbit!!!???

Everyone -- The Huawei P8 Lite has all the hardware requirements to be a supported device but is currently not on our list of supported devices. This means that our Android team has not yet tested it for compatibility and added it to the list. If the device supports BLE (AKA Bluetooth 4.0), I recommend giving the setup flow a try.

If setup does not work, I recommend setting up and syncing via a device listed as supported or using a computer. Our team is always working to test and add more Android devices to the supported devices list, so keep an eye open for updates!

It is really annoying issue for P9 owner. It is android and if they say everywhere this device is for android then do it for android. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Support-for-Bluetooth-4-1-phones/idi-p/1791211

I am very disappointed to find that my Flex 2 which I love is not syncing with my new phone Huawei P9 Lite. Never thought for a moment this would happen . As my computer is old and doesn't have Bluetooth  this is a real pain. Are you making it compatible anytime soon ?

It's not clear whether they can make it compatible, let alone when they'll do it.

What OS is your computer running? If it's running Windows 10 then you could use the fitbit app and buy a generic bluetooth dongle. Or, regardless of the OS, you could purchase a bluetooth dongle from fitbit and use the fitbit connect software to sync your fitbit.

Hi,

I bought a Charge 2 for me and a Flex 2 for a gift. The Charge 2 kind of works (continuous sync turned OFF) on my p8 lite, while the Flex 2 is completely invisible to the p9 lite it was meant to work with. I had to get the gift back and return it, which is really an ugly experience.

Fitbit is playing very bad on this issue. They don't state clearly enough that you should check every single phone for compatibility. The average user just checks for Android support, which is by the way definetely understandable (am I really supposed to check compatbility between a big brand smartphone and a bluetooth device in 2017?).

I really appreciate that comments are being read, but guys, this is far from enough. I think you should talk about plans, not about your lovely commitment to improve. Huawei phones are very popular and you are disappointing people everywhere. You should open technical forums and involve people to get a grasp of what's going on and why it is so difficult to get things working. I'm a computer scientist myself and I can't get to know why two modern bluetooth devices are not able to see each other, apart from having heard deductions from people around about bluetooth versions.

I really hope to hear news about my Charge 2 and p8 lite, while I search for a p9 lite compatible device (anything but Fitbit, I suppose?).

Sincerely,
Francesco.

P.S. I forgot an important issue. The Android Play store won't show apps that are not compatible with the device it's running on (for example, Whatsapp won't show up on a tablet without support for a SIM). Since the Fitbit app alone makes no sense, it should not show up at all in the store on unsupported phones, as this further misleads users into thinking that they are.

Its a very good point, to raise a claim in google play as it does not work well (bluetooth sync). I am so amazed that this can happen with a popular brand (fitbit) on 2017...

Absolutely agree! I`ve just spend hours reading reviews of fitness trackers, finally decided to go for Fitbit Charge 2, just to find out it`s not compatible with my Huawei phone?!
Seriously! OK, it`s Jawbone or Garmin then, thanks very much 😞

So can Fitbit tell us is it being tested yet? It has been on market for over a year. I have been using Fitbit products for over 4 years now and am really disappointed that the team keep fobbing customers off on this issue. I have recommended so many people to Fitbit and am left feeling very let down. The team keep saying the exact same evertime they are questioned on this issue. The devices will not connect at all let alone sync. What is the point in me having this device if it cannot be used in the way it was designed for?

I own a P9 Lite (VNS-L31). And my Fitbit Charge HR sync's just fine.
My wife has VNS-L21 and her Fitbit Charge HR sync's as well.

We are both using the stock firmware (EMU 4.1.1, C150B161) - not some custom ROM.

Thanks, that`s great news, but will it work for everyone? The problem with P9 Lite has been going on for some 6 months and no confirmation about compatibility prom FitBit. It still isn`t in supported devices...
You understand, I don`t want to spend money (and time) buying something that just might work...

It's great that the charge is working. I upgraded to an Alta from my Flex and it won't connect at all. I guess it depends what Fitbit device you own then.

I can only tell you that our Fitbit Charge HR bands work fine with our P9 Lite's. 🙂
Previously we both had Lumia 930's and switched to the P9 Lite last year in October/November.

Yeah, it's surely possible that other Fitbit devices have sync issues. I can only speak about our Charge HR's. (note, we have the first generation Charge HR, not the Charge 2 HR) 🙂

Hello @franapoli @ramirezf@BOEScott and @jpcafe

We definitely understand where you're coming from. While the phones are not listed on the compatible devices list, it is possible that they will be able to sync and work. However, we're not able to fully guarantee functionality with devices not on the list. New devices are added continuously and we're working towards expanding that list with new devices as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding on this situation.

Hi Fitbit,

I recently bought an Alta, I have a Huawei P9 Lite.

Seeing as the Alta does not recognize the Huawei P9 Lite should I return the Alta OR can you give me an expected date at which the connectivity will no longer be an issue?

Your speedy reply will be greatly appreciated.
