I was experiencing the same problem with the missing data but it appeared to solve itself when I rebooted my phone.
I should mention: I uninstalled and re-installed the fitbit phone app twice; and I also left my phone off for a number of hours -- I don't know if either of those actions had any bearing on the error being resolved on my phone.
So very frustrating that every time there is an update there are performance issues of some sort.
