I had set a step goal in 2024 to average 11,000 steps a day for the year. I checked the app at the start of December and I was well ahead of schedule. Later in December, I had lost A LOT of steps. I am currently averaging 9,200 a day for 2024 - which is very low compared to what I had at a month prior. Several posts say it is just an app syncing problem, and that none of the data was lost. However, when I did a data export to double-check the data, it matched the app. Is the data lost forever? Is this a one-time thing or should I expect the same for 2025? Do I need to take more consistent exports and story my own data? Is there a fix in the works?

Hi, @davis190, welcome to the community, previous examples of this malfunction were thought to have been caused by server problems at Fitbit but at the time of writing it all seems to be working on the Fitbit Status Dashboard. I can only suggest you try talking to "Customer Support", work through steps one & two then use the contact link to go on Chat or the phone for a prompt response.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

I reached out to customer support and got a "We know it is an issue and we are working on it". Follow-up questions revealed that there is no way to track this issue and its progress, no timeline for resolution, and no workaround. So seems like we just get to wait and hope.

Hello @davis190
According to a thread about missing historical data, one of the users reported that the new app update that's currently rolling out, version 4.34, restored their data.
App updates tend to rollout in waves. So keep checking the Play Store and install the Fitbit app update when it's available to you.
Please let us know if you still don't see your historical data after installing version 4.34.

Hello @davis190
I had 2 updates for the Fitbit app, the most recent one was the actual 4.34.1 version. Please confirm that your app version is 4.34.1.
If you are on version 4.34.1, please submit your issue using the Feedback option in the Fitbit app
Although it's likely that you won't receive a response, the team receives and reviews the feedback reports.
You should also post in this thread (<-- click link) and tag JuanFitbit, the Moderator. In your response, please provide your Fitbit app version and what phone you're using. He will forward your information to the engineering team and let them know what issues weren't fixed with the update.
