As much as I want something like Fitbit to be 100% compatible with every android device, I'm afraid this task is nearly impossible for Fitbit to accomplish. It would be far more feasible to make every iphone model ever released work with each fitbit model than it would be to make even just every android phone released within a couple years of each fitbit device compatible.
Android OS may be a google product, but developers and manufacturers from any company can pretty much make any change they want to the OS, and install it on any hardware configuration, processor, ram, etc they want. This has caused too much fragmentation and variations of Android to make any one-size-fits-all solution, or even making a custom version of the fitbit application for every single phone.
That can't stop us from at least trying though XP
I think the most feasible solution would be to petition them to include universal APIs for fitbits (and other hardware) in every new version of Android OS as part of the TOS, especially since Google owns Fitbit now. However, that would take a bit of negotiation on Google's part because part of the reason Android has been successful, is because Google isn't forcing these things to be included.

I'm moving this thread to the Android forum, a better fit for this issue.
