I realize it's been removed on purpose ( Bike shouldn't contribute to steps ) but then the watch ( in my case Ionic ) still counts steps. Today, I got over 6000 steps because of cycling on the distance of 30km. I know the difference because my other watch disables step counting during cycling so roughly the difference is what Ionic has added. Missing "Steps" in the "Impact" gives an incomplete picture of the activity and is inconsistent with the way the devices work.

Hello @SunsetRunner these steps are coming from the bumps that have been ridden over. Did you want these bumps counted among the daily steps? I do not.
But as you point out, a person riding a bike is not stepping,

@Rich_Laue I know where those steps come from and I don't want them but they are still there. Not mentioning them in the Impact tab is inaccurate as after exercise I won't even know how many those false steps have been added! The watch still registers the steps and app includes them in daily total! It is an inconsistent design. I don't know, maybe there is another FW update coming that will disable steps counting on the watch during non-step based activities and the app is just ready for it now but these two changes should come together ( or at least FW update first where the steps counting is off ). Removing steps from "Impact" gives the user false information as if no steps were added during the activity which is not true. Considering "bumps" 6000 steps for 1,5hr cycling activity is quite a lot ( it's more than an hour of walking for me to get these many steps ). Of course, I'd like the watch stop counting steps in cycling mode ( and any other non-step based mode ) but if it does due to bumps I still want to know how many false steps have been added because they don't magically disappear ( not mentioning something doesn't make it disappear 😉 ).
