Mobile app does not run in the background

This all started when I stopped receiving notifications on my watch.

Tried all troubleshoots online and nothing works.

I then realised on my notification bar it doesn't show the fitbit app is running in the background.

This means that the all day sync & notification functions DO NOT WORK anymore.

Without the app running in the background, your watch will not automatically sync your activities to your account and you won't get notifications live unless you open the app.

The trouble shoot on the website about disabling background restrictions in phone settings, the button is now unclickable and says "background usage can't be restricted".

Don't know how this happened, but I was wondering if anyone has the same issue and if possible any solutions?

Thanks!

@Hanky47 Welcome! It's good that the community is growing!

I will gladly assist you with this. You will need to refer to your phone's manual and/or Support as this is a configuration on the OS and the phone itself. Once the Fitbit app is permitted to run in the background its features should work. One thing you can check is the battery saver option as this could be affecting the app from running.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm having the exact same problem. I don't have battery saving turned on (This happens even if I am connected to the mains), the app is set to always run in the background , and I have changed absolutely no settings on my phone. This started about 5 days ago during which times I received no updates to my phone or to my Fitbit app.

I tired re-bonding my fitbit with the phone, disabling and reenabling background running, and removing and re-adding my fitbit. Nothing resolved the problem. I also tried diabling and reenabling notifications as I initially thought that this was a notification problem.

I am having no problems running any other app in the background. This seems to be entirely restricted to the fitbit app. The problem effect both my Charge 3, and my Charge HR. The charge 3 won't receive notifications (Charge HR does not have this function), and neither will sync unless have the app open on screen. As soon as the app goes into the background (for example, I'm using a different app), or the lock screen turns on, the fitbit app acts as if it's shut down and won't interact with anything in any way.
