Fitbit Update: 9/26/17
Hello, everyone! I wanted to make it known that I haven't forgotten about this issue with MobileRun. Our team is aware of this ongoing problem, however, I don't have a timeline for when there will be a fix available. I understand many of you are frustrated with this feature, and I hope to give you all more information soon. Thanks for your continued patience!
Just to be clear, this thread is for the MobileRun issue for when you initiate a Run/Walk, if you 'Pause' your activity and then 'Resume' after you finish, you will not see your map or some of your exercise data. Alternatively, this does not happen if you 'Pause' and 'Finish' your Run/Walk right away.
Fitbit Update: 7/20/17
Thanks everyone for providing the information requested about this MobileRun issue. It appears since the Android app version 2.43, users who initiate a MobileRun on their devices and later pause it at some point will not have all the data saved when syncing afterward. This data can include the map and distance data.
I really appreciate your cooperation and patience while our team works towards a resolution. I know many of you have been active on this thread and I want to make sure you know all your input has been very helpful in determining the factors. I will continue to update this thread when there is more information available. Thanks again for your help!

@trevorohanlon We have found the message comes after you go through the process of pause, finish, hold to finish. Then you get your gradual green screen and at that point the message comes up. It doesn't stay there long enough for screen capture or the capture process removes the message.

Honestly cant say I have ever noticed it as generally when the green screen starts the phone is already well on its way back into my pocket.

Hi, I walked 6 miles last night and didn't pause my Fitbit at all and the map saved 😊
It's a temporary fix but not ideal. I am planning a 16 mile walk at the weekend and will probably stop a couple of times and this is where I would usually use Pause. Obviously if I leave it running my pace will not be accurate.

So should we just press on 'hold to finish' without first pausing?

Yes, @Paula_G, it is apparently the Pause function that is causing it to not save the mapped exercise. I did a test on walk to a destination, used "Finish" to end the walk, and then started a new walk for the return trip, and used "Finish" to end it. It recorded both walks without problem. On a previous test, I did the same thing, but used "Pause" at the destination instead of "Finish" and it did not record it. It resulted in 2 exercises, instead of one, but it did record it.
It is not the ideal way of recording the exercise, but it is a good workaround until Fitbit is able to find and fix the problem with the Pause feature.

I have a Fitbit notification on my phone (Galaxy Core Prime) to "Update Tracker Software"...Has anyone installed this update and is it the "fix" for the pause problem? Current Firmware Version is 22.22.48.14. I hesitate to install since we now know the pause during walk/run is why we lose maps and such...I'm content to use the work around (for fear of losing info again) discussed in this forum until I hear a collective cheer...LOL....

@SunsetRunner, the firmware update is for the Charge 2 tracker, not the Android app. The problem with the Pause feature failing to save the mapped exercise is with the Android app, which is now on version 2.46.

Hello,
I just wanted to mention I am experience exactly the same disappearing the map exercise problem. I got the Fitbit Charge 2, using Samsung Galaxy S5 Android v. 6.0.1, and the Fitbit app v.2.46
I went yesterday to a 12.5 Hike and I lost everything... I didn't use the Pause of course, since I didn't know about it before. One thing I sometimes also experience, is if the app is running for a long time, it freezes.. don't know if that has something to do with the problem as well.
Hopefully there is a solution soon!! It was very sad to loose all the map and info yesterday... 😞
Thanks!

It's very annoying!
I haven't experienced my screen freezing but when I hold in Finish (after I've used pause) I receive the message 'Fitbit has stopped working'.
I am going to test it again tonight when I walk without using the pause and again at the weekend using Pause to check if my map saves.

@TextReport, are you using the Pause function on the Mobilerun during the exercise? That has been reported to cause the maps to not be saved after the exercise is finished.
The problem @Richflex is experiencing is the Connected GPS not connecting in order to map the exercise - that is either a problem with the Bluetooth connection, or a setting in the app, such as not turning on Enable Notifications Widget, etc.

My surge does the same. It doesn't sync after my runs, won't bring up my maps, so can't check 1 km spilts and heartrate. Everything was okay until February (although temperamental with syncing). Sometimes I use pause, sometimes I don't, but that shouldn't matter. These fitbits seems like lemons because I've constantly had problems with syncing. I know it's not the Bluetooth because I don't have issues with other devices.

Oh no that's blown my theory out of window then. My 2 most recent walks saved the map successfully but I didn't use the Pause at all.
This is so frustrating isn't it?

I've paused a few time during a walk today and lost my map, which showed fine during the walk.... I will just have to not pause during an activity until they can fix the problem ☺️

Seems as tho a fix is not yet available...Lost my map after half mile (deliberate pause)...Will no longer use the pause function...and will continue to hope for a solution to come soon. If no solution will be forthcoming, maybe it's time for me to look into other fitness trackers as this has been a known issue for well over a month...

@WattoP arent you using the GPS capability of your Surge?
Or, as this thread is about, starting the run from the app on the phone?
