MobileTrack is showing "foreground notification"

I am getting the following notification as of today:

Notification required for phone-based step features. Fitbit cannot accurately use your phone's pedometer without a foreground notification.

What does this mean and why am I getting it?

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit Community.

Thanks for the details mentioned. It seems that you just set up MobileTrack and this is why the app is showing you this notification. Learn more about this feature in this article

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link @SilviaFitbit however that link doesn't explain how to stop the notification or what the ramifications are. Are there any mods with more explicit information about how to manage the daily notification please?

What notification is required? It's user action required?

What is a foreground notification??

Error/popup message says:

  • Notification required for phone-based step features

Fitbit cannot accurately use your phone's pedometer without a foreground notification.

@SilviaFitbit

Options at the bottom of the pop-up say

  • Okay
  • Unpair.

Those options are not explained. Please help. Thanks

@Jessica-Rabbit Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the detailed information shared.

The foreground notification is displayed, to let users know when running long lived background tasks. Since MobileTrack will use your phone's sensors to track basic activity data this is why this notification is displayed. It's recommended to choose "Okay".

Hope this helps.
