MobileTrack problem (possible bug)

Hi.

I am using the android app on my LG G3 device.
When I fist set up the app and account, the app allowed me to add the MobileTrack option as the tracking device. After that under Dashboard - Devices I could see the MobileTrack with an option to unpair it.

Used the FitBit for more than a week. Finally, I noticed that I have 0 steps in the friends list. And also on the web app, the last sync was stuck on the same date when I set up the app and account. But the actual walking route data and everything else (calories, steps, km) was and still is there. So it does sync with the app.

Thinking that there is a syncing problem I unpaired the mobile tracker under Dashboard - Devices to re-add it later. But now there is no MobileTrack option to re-add. However, there is this option when I log out and try to set up a new account.

So what is the problem? Could it be that my LG G3 doesn't even support the MobileTrack and the option to add it at account setup is just a bug, and I didn't have the MobileTrack from the beginning?

Thanks,

Kris

Ok. So this is what happened.

Came back home from a daily walk. Apart from tracking it as run instead of walk, everything went well. 14km - my new record.

I turn on Windows 10 FitBit app, and it has [!] sign telling me that "This device is not paired...". What? You want me to pair my PC? No... It turns out it thinks my PC is a Windows phone. Ok... doesn't matter.
What does matter is that in Windows app I see MobileTrack enabled. I check my LG G3 and after finally syncing for the first time, it has re-paired itself and now has MobileTrack on.

I don't know what did it:

1. Could be just using the tracker to track my walk.

2. Could be Windows 10 app.

3. Or both.

Anyway... If you have a similar problem, try to poke around with Windows app.

But the 0 step problem in my friends list and profile under My Achievements still exists. As far as I know MobileTrack should count.

Just installed the Windows 10 FitBit app hoping that I would be able to add MobileTrack from there, but the situation is the same there - no MobileTrack option. In which case it likely has nothing to do with my LG G3. The app simply doesn't have the MobileTrack option outside of the first setup. And I can't get that "first setup" on an existing account.

I have the same problem. Scanning the NFC badge for Google I/O pulls up the FitBit app.

JeffS123, you lost the MobileTrack option too? I'm a bit confused about that NFC badge thing you mentioned.

Made a dummy account and chose the MobileTrack option there. This time it didn't appear under devices.

Also tried to install older version before UI was changed. No luck there. Looks like the app is pulling device options from a server.

Would be nice to have 100% clarification on this, so we know what is going on and you can pin this if needed.

When FitBit is in the background and I scan a badge that is NFC enabled and completely unrelated to FitBit, the app opens up. However when I uninstalled the app. The badge pulled up what it was originally intended to do. The app must be looking for any NFC tag or device and opening up. FitBit should restrict this to only their NFC devices so they don't conflict with other uses of NFC.

Same problem.  Looks to be an app issue with 1st time v subsequent setup.

FITBIT - this is a simply coding mod.  Please correct and update.

A year later...still the same issue...

MobileTrack is ancient and fraught with MANY step stealing errors from too many signal dependant failures of both Bluetooth and GPS. It is the software running to do GPS tracking using the phones GPS even if you have a tracker loaded in the app. It will hang and no one can resolve it's "Lost in Space"  wandering. Using MobileTrack witha tracker automatic and is as unreliable as without.
