MobileTracker - what is this and why do I need it?

Hi all,

I must apologise if this is not the correct way to ask this question but I did search first and nothing seemed to answer my question. OK so first of all, started with fitbit back in 2016 with a 'One' and then life happened and just kind of slipped away not that I'm not into fitness I am but I never tracked it. I now have a Versa 2 which is connected to a Samsung s10+. I set it all up which I am happy with. I haven't had issues with my phone or the app or the set up or anything like that (I did read a post to say that S10 or S10+ not being supported?

As of yesterday (May 2nd 2020) when I click on my profile (in the app) I could see my device and all the usual information, but when I went on a walk yesterday half way into this I recieved a notification saying 'Good news your walk is recognised by MobileTrack' I dismissed this and thought that the route I had taken was different and it was the route was recognised - hmm.

This morning, when I clicked again on my profile I could see my device - Versa 2 and then this new thing popped up - yes you guessed it 'MobileTracking' immediately I thought that someone else has accesses my account as I never set this up and had no idea what it is. I did a search on my phone apps and nothing and another search on the Web and it came up with many searches on fitbit.

I have gathered that it is something to do with fitbit and steps but my questions are:

* What is mobiletracking?

* Why do I need this?

* Why has this just all of a sudden popped up out of the blue?

My steps were being tracked prior to me having this? Just a bit of further information just incase it is needed. I am using the fitbit app on a Samsung S10+ and my fitbit is a Versa 2. I had no issues in setting this up on my phone or with any of the tracking. On my phone I also have the fitbit coach app. But I have added these to my iPad Pro 2019 as I didn't like working out with small videos on my phone and wanted a bigger screen so my iPad also has the fitbit app and the fit coach app but I only use these for the workout videos.

Could someone please answer the questions above and I do apologise if these have already been answered.

Thank you all so much in advance.

The only issue I have is the logging of meals, I've logged meals and met my daily goals, it even says I've met them and then in the morning it says I didn't meet any of the meal/calorie goals - but that is another issue!

Is this popping up on your phone, or wrist?

Your Versa 2 has the ability to auto detect a walk. This may be disabled through the settings.

Hi @Rich_Laue When I went out walking this popped up as a notification on my watch and I didn't think anymore of it and then saw the Mobile Tracking on my device list on my phone.

I set up my Versa 2 and had this for two days prior to the Mobile Tracking appearing out the blue.

Thanks,

Sam
