Not pairing, extremely frustrating

I have not been able to connect my phone with my Fitbit. It should not be this difficult!!I am good with troubleshooting technology but this is ridiculous! The screen keeps saying "Connect Phone: Pair your phone in your Settings app, Under Bluetooth."
