Notification service not running - android v.2.83

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi,

I'm running fitbit app latest version 2.83 on my android 7 - xiaomi redmi 5 plus

I can't get any notification on my tracker, and there is error message showing all the time even after restart both of the phone and the tracker (Blaze).

"Notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker"

I checked the compatibility between the phone and app, and it's showed it's compatible

I unpaired the tracker and re-paired, cleared cash i did all the instructions and informations in this form but unfortunately nothing helped.

i need a solution please.

Thanks

Welcome to the Forums @albezreh.

Thanks for trying all of those steps to get the notifications to work correctly before posting.

After checking on our list, I could see that the Xiaomi RedMi 5 is definitely not

of the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone.

As long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it. Some users of unsupported devices have mentioned that following these steps helps with the notifications which you have mostly completed. I'd still say that you try to go through all of them in order.

Let me know if there are any further questions.

Hello. I just bought two fitbit Versa for my parents and they are having the exact same issue. They are running the 2.83 version and still see the error message of notification service not running. They are using mi5 and mi mix 2 which I understand are not listed in your supported phone (both of which are newer phones than the ones on your list)

Wil fitbit expand their list of supported devices for mi phones?

It is is a little frustrating that they cannot use the product at its potential. Thanks

Welcome to the Forums @Demonsao and @ingoc123.

At this moment we do not have any news of when we can expect those phones to be added to the list. As soon as we have any details on the matter we will be sure to let everyone know.

You could post about the specific phone in our Feature Suggestions board. There, other users could comment and vote on the idea to show their support. Be sure to read the FAQ to better understand how the board works.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I am having the same issue with the Honor 8X phone with version 2.87 of the Fitbit APP. It seems to be intermittent though.

I have found that it seems to run more reliably if I keep the App open which suggests to me it isn't running properly in background mode. I have checked to ensure it is allowed to run in background mode and it is.

Hello @CaterhamKid  and @OrvilleGS.

Thanks for sharing your experiences on the matter.

@CaterhamKid that might be happening because the  Honor 8x is not part of the supported devices list. This would mean that since the app is not fully optimized to work with that phone, it could explain why this is happening.

@OrvilleGS could it be also related to the phone that you are using?

Look forward to your reply.

@LanuzaFitbit

That is very limiting. With the number of phones on the market the App should be more generic than that and work with any Android phone with Android 4.2 or above. The Honor 8X is a very popular phone so no reason why that shouldn't be on the list.

Hello @OrvilleGS and @CaterhamKid.

Thanks for sharing your feedback @CaterhamKid.

@OrvilleGS In this case the Mate 20 is also not part of the supported devices so that would also explain why the syncing is not going through.

As I mentioned above, maybe you could post about those phones in our Feature Suggestions boards. That way you can make your voice heard as to what you'd like to see implemented.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

@CaterhamKid @OrvilleGS For the Feature suggestions page use this corrected link

Feature Suggestions

should be able to search to see if a similar request has already been input - if so comment and vote if not you should have an option to make a new suggestion - this will also check to see if there is a similar request in - if none of those are what you want scroll to the bottom and select none of these match and it will take you to the new suggestion input template

hope this helps

Kind Regards
