Notification services keeps turning off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Starting with two updates ago (maybe 280.1) my Fitbit app randomly turns off notification services and stops synching entirely with my Blaze. If I launch the app and then go to notifications they are disabled until I reenable notification services. After I do that, everything works fine for a while until I notice I am no longer receiving notifications and have to go through this process again. I have Keep Alive Widget enabled and have tried clearing the cache to see if that causes notification services to stay enabled. But, after a while it gets turned off. This is on a Galaxy S8+, if that matters.

Hello @btschuster.

Thanks for making sure that the Keep Alive widget is turned on before posting.

I have a couple of questions in this case:

  • Do you have any other app that could have access to your Notifications services or your phone's Bluetooth?
  • What Android version are you running?

In the meantime, let's try restarting your phone after turning the notifications back on and check if  that helps the notifications stay on.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi @LanuzaFitbit

This only recently started two app updates ago.

I am not sure what other apps cold have access to notification services on my phone.

I have restarted the phone every time this happens. Sometimes I need to restart the phone just to see the tracker.

I am running Android 8.0.0

Thanks

Hello @btschuster.

Thanks for answering my questions and letting me know about the restarts.

My suggestion in this case would be to uninstall the app from your phone and then trying to install it again. Maybe some file was not installed properly and is causing the notifications to be turned off.

Let me know how it  goes or if you have any other questions.

Hi @LanuzaFitbit,

Thank you for your response. Yesterday, my phone received the October Android update and I have not seen this issue since then. I will continue to monitor and let you know if the situation changes.
