Hi there @pmetty, welcome aboard to our Community and I appreciate you have share your feedback with us. So far is only possible to set one application to received notifications.
The best place to make your voice heard is the Feature Suggestions board on our community, which our product development teams consult regularly to ensure we're delivering on what our users need and want. If you find that a similar suggestion has already been made by another member of the community, you can vote for their idea and add your comments.
A few months ago a Community user, came with a workaround to use an app that unify different notifications services. This app was compatible with the Fitbit app and allowed to received more notifications from other services on the tracker. I wasn't able to find that conversation to share the link. Although the app he was suggesting at that time was called: Disa and is available on Android. (I checked before my reply and still is available) I used that app for a few days to tested it and the Fitbit app is able to recognize as a compatible notifications app. In my personal opinion I did not like the interface of that app, so I stopped using it. Although it might be a workaround if you need to received more notifications from different apps.
Hope this helps and let me know if this information helps.

Why does the fitbit app only allow a single text app for notifications? This seems like a huge oversight. I use at least 2 text apps (messenger and hangouts) all the time.
Can those radio buttons become checkboxes in the text notification page?
Another app that's available for Android is Fit Notifications (for Fitbit). It is in the Play Store. You can choose what apps send notifications to a compatible tracker. I'm using it for my Charge 2 and it works fine. Lots of customization.
