Pace/Lap display in Exercise

ANSWERED

I have a Charge 6 and Iphone and within the past few days my laps/pace on my exercise details page has gone crazy.  I walked tonight, 2.23 Miles at average 19' pace.  The detail at the bottom says Lap 1 - 11'41"/mi = 3.63 miles.  I know my laps are set at 1.0 mi. I have gone back and earlier exercises that had lap1, lap 2, etc... now have similar one lap with ludicrous distances and no individual laps.  This makes me nuts, as a runner I want to know what my lap times are for training and improvement.

Anyone that can help would make me very happy.

My Fitbit dash board/app has deleted the split times on all my runs and only shows one overall pace and distance. help!

is this like the deletion of seconds on your finishing time?

I updated the Versa 4 app to latest update (version 20001.210.26) and now when I run, it only shows “Lap 1” for the entire run instead of splits for each mile (lap). And it’s incorrect info. For example I ran 4.07 miles at 9:48 pace (showing correctly in the overall stats). Then I scroll down to “Pace” and it says “Lap 1 6.02 /mile - 6.61 miles”. Also, looking at all previous runs that used to show the splits, now only show 1 lap for the entire distance.  I restarted the app and phone and that doesn’t work.

@KB12125 I believe the update to the Versa 4 reset some things on the watch. I had to go back into my watch and enable GPS and the Lap counts. Double check that your Versa 4 settings have lap counts enabled and counting every 1 mile. When you get ready to start a Run, swipe up on the screen and scroll down to find the Lap settings.

Thank you Heather! I did what you suggested and I’ll see if that works next time I run. It’s disappointing though that all previous logged runs have lost the mile splits!

Mine stopped showing split times from 9/03/24 so it may be a problem with iOS17.6.1? I've tried in vain all the previous recommendations and it still only show one lap time for the entire walk?

Mine have vanished too.

@Heather-S well I reset the Lap setting and after my run yesterday I’m now apparently a 6 min mile 😂 like what? The main stat section seems accurate - 10:26/mile. But the splits are showing 6 min miles. This is crazy. Since it’s picking up some correct info, I’m not sure if I should reset my step/stride info. Any other insight??

I also lost my lap splits. Did changing it back and doing a run fix the old data? JFC, this is so annoying. Will try a run tomorrow and see what the new splits look like.

It didn’t work for me - the splits are there now but wildly inaccurate. I’m not a 6 min/mile! My hope is that the next update fixes this. But I can’t seem to get ahold of anyone at Fitbit/Google to tell them.

Looks like it's reporting your laps per km but is saying miles, a 10 min mile is roughly 6 min km, right? Either way that is bad info. I get the sense google doesn't give a sh$t, let's see if they fix it soon. I thought I broke something so at least it's not me!

@danpir @KB12125 Yep, that 6:17 is definitely the pace in kilometers.

I'm so sorry, I can't think of any other solutions. Fitbit is becoming increasingly frustrating to use if you're a runner. 😔

@danpir @Heather-Sbut it still says miles! And the main stats seems to be correct. How do I ensure it’s actually miles and not km?

@KB12125 I think it's just a glitch. I don't think there's anything you can do. I reported it to Fitbit, but who knows when we'll see a fix for it.

What I do when I go for a run is also start a run on the Strava app on my phone. The GPS is more accurate and so are the mile splits. It's not a perfect solution, but for now it's the only way I can get accurate run data.

@Heather-S Thank you! I don’t have strava but I will get it now. Thanks for your help !

The exercise log no longer is giving split times for each Kilometer per run. Has removed it from previous runs and just shows everything as lap one, average pace and overall time. Why?

Best Answer

I have exactly the same issue. Restarting the App or rebooting my smartphone did not work.

Went on a run this evening, got home and I can see map of where I ran, duration and average pace but there are no splits.

I noticed this in April when I ran the marathon and logged on the website to see splits but now that isn’t an option as Fitbit removed it.

wnyone know how to solve it?

I’ve also noticed this and think it started just over a week ago.  If I look back on the app, the data has changed.  I check my pace/mile for each walk, and they’ve been fine in the past.  Now, even ones from the past which were ok just show the one entry as you see.

I thought I’d changed something, so looked through the app and fitbit, and found a setting on the device to set a 1 mile checkpoint. (excersise/walk/ scroll down to laps then set auto count to 1 mile.

However, all this does is produce multiple pace times e.g

Distance 2.46m duration 34m average pace 13’55”  (this seems ok)

lap 1 9’06”/mi.1.61 mi

lap 2 8’21”/mi.1.61 mi

lap 3 8’23”/mi.0.73 mi

These laps make no sense, as you have observed.  I wonder if theyre pace time /km as the 1.6 in mentioned (1mi=1.61km)

I’m sure this is a bug in the app, must admit its got me researching garmin as This incorrect data is making the fitbit useless to me.

For me this change has just occurred after installing 4.25 update to IOS app. I use Versa 2 and iPad. Not all but most of my historical data has become corrupted when displayed by the new update. Lap times have changed to average pace per lap and exercise times have dropped seconds or become ridiculous. A 2 km run (which for me is really a fast walk) reports exercise time as 654 months and 21 days. It should have been 18:26. Going back in history with the directional arrows, looking at previous months eliminates most of the exercise of the month leaving only part of the first week. My average daily step count for this year to date is 13,554 steps. I don't miss a day of exercise and have 606 Happy Hill to 2 Skyscraper floor badges and 665 Boat Shoe to 6 Classics steps badges in the last 23 months. My lifetime steps is currently 8.55 million. This is quite depressing seeing the loss of the record of my effort. As I was hoping when the first "update" was dispensed about 7 for 8 months ago for me, these flaws would be worked out and corrected with later updates. Google/Fitbit stated that at the initial rollout of the "New App". The App Store has a report that my App had been updated 26 times in the last 10 months. I've only recently found where the App version is conveniently located and so wasn't aware of the ongoing updates until I was asked to update 4.25. I should say threatened that if my app wasn't updated by September 30, 2024 it would probably have performance deficiencies. Guess what Google/Fitbit. It already does have performance deficiencies when the updates were installed after stating that they were "bug fixes, performance improvements". In short the lap times are the most important stat when training to improve personal performance. I usually put more effort out on the 4th and 5th laps to the finish to see if I can improve my time. Seeing the average pace for each lap doesn't do it for me.
