Pixel 2 / Alta HR compatibility

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just here to log that my Pixel 2 is not connecting to an Alta HR fitbit. Curious if anyone else is having issues with Pixel 2.

I've attempted every restart/reinstallation combination I can think of. Phone's bluetooth is compatible with other devices, and Alta HR still connects to my old iphone 5s.

I understand Pixel 2 is not listed as a supported device (https://www.fitbit.com/devices) and would like to request that this is added. Thanks!

Welcome to the Forums @JerseyGirl883 and @tomtech.

@tomtech Thanks for sharing that with all of us. Hopefully it will help other users just like the other process described in here.

@JerseyGirl883 Sorry to hear that it hasn't worked. Perhaps you could try syncing your Fitbit using a different mobile device that is supported, or even a computer. Do you have a computer that you could use?

Please feel free to reach out if there are any questions.

I do have a computer and tablet also, but I carry my phone all the time and would prefer to be able to check stats, etc. On my phone. I really hope this gets resolved with the Pixel 2!

Hey @JerseyGirl883.

Hopefully something will be resolved in the future. In the meantime, the best way would be to sync with the computer. If it has Windows 10, please download the Fitbit app from the Windows store. If it is using other Windows version, or a Mac computer, please download the Fitbit Connect software from our website.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Try uninstall the Fitbit app from all other devices that you have, or stay away from the bluetooth range of those devices. Fitbit devices have a weird behavior of confusing which device to connect to, even if they are not synced to those.

My Blaze isn't connecting to my Pixel 2 XL. I still have to sync my Blaze to my S7 Edge

A very warm welcome to the Forums @trannhatanh89.

Thanks for chiming in. It is definitely possible that it could work, but it still might not. Since the Pixel 2 is not a supported device, like mentioned before, there needs to be further optimization.

If you have any further questions, please let me know.

My charge HR and flex 2 aren't syncing. I got them to sync in the beginning and now nothing. Very disappointed.

Alta hr connects to Pixel 2 but no notifications work

Best Answer

I have a Pixel 2 and yesterday I purchased an Alta HR.  I knew others were having issues but since a Verizon offer of 20% off was expiring I decided to give it a try knowing I could return it if it failed to please.  Well, all is well.  For those who are troubleshooting their own compatibility issues - I'm on a Pixel 2 running Android 8.0.0 .  I assume I'm on the latest version of the Fitbit app as it's a fresh download.  Bluetooth is connecting with the Alta HR and SoundBuds earbuds.  It's also connecting with my Fitbit One but that has never been visible in the list of connected devices.   Bottom line - both Fitbits are syncing without issue and I'm getting notifications.  I haven't tried the sleep function as yet.  The phone isn't suffering from any weird battery drain.  Not sure why my setup works, but it does.

Charge HR: My pixel 2 is also verizon, running Android 8.0.0 and have the
most current version of the fitbit application. I'm still not able to sync
from the Charge to the phone - I can only sync to my laptop running the
application. Gosh, I hope I don't have to do a factory reset or a
one-by-one 3rd party app reinstall in order to fix the issue. One person
wrote that they have a new version of Android OS but I haven't been offered
a chance to upgrade. We'll just have to see.

Bummer. As of the update on Tuesday I can no longer get my One to sync.  I've tried everything running the suggested checklist multiple times.  The Alta HR is still syncing fine on my Google Pixel 2 but the One is MIA in terms of syncing data.

I didn't even think to check compatibility when I ordered my Pixel 2. While waiting for a new phone, I have been using the Fitbit app on an old iPhone. Seems if you can sync your Charge2 to a compatible and syncable product, it will show updates/sync with Pixel 2. I was signed into Fitbit on both apps.  I figured that out this morning, as I planned to use the old iphone for the Fitbit app until Pixel 2 was added to a worthy partner with Fitbit.

Please add Pixel 2 compatibility! I didn't even think about there being a potential issue when I bought my new phone because I assumed the Bluetooth stack on Android would be the same. Instead I'm having to sync with my computer for now.

If they can't get this resolved soon, I will be looking for another tracker. It's syncing to my phone but I'm not getting notifications. This is ridiculous! It doesn't make any sense why it's working for some people and not others. Whether it's Oreo or the Pixel, Fitbit should have engineers on hand to update their software when technology changes, as it does frequently. Very disappointed!

Yeah, I'm having the same issue with my Pixel 2 XL. it won't even pair with Bluetooth Classic.

I just bought a Fitbit Alta hr and have just seen the comments here. I didn't even think to check about compatibility bc it's absurd that Fitbit wouldn't sink with the latest Android device. Are there any plans to get this sorted or do we all need to send our trackers back

My first recommendation would be to make sure that you're not near any other devices (like a computer or tablet) that may be trying to sync with your Fitbit. I'm also having issues syncing with my Pixel 2. It's extremely slow and/or problematic, with a little work I can get it to sync, although not all the time. Oreo 8.1.0 is the Android version currently running on Pixel 2. Fitbit is very quick to refer to their "compatible devices" list rather than provide any "real" help to their customers. It seems any excuse to NOT help is the norm these days. Support is NOT what it used to be. I've been a Fitbit customer for years (starting with classic Fitbit clip back when the company first launched) having owned several Fitbit devices over the years. My current device is a Fitbit Charge HR. They replaced it shortly after I purchased it due to it no longer charging. Any issues I've had with this replacement since then seems to garner the response. "its a replacement device we can't help". I've also been given the "your phone isn't on the device compatibility list" (at that time the most recent phone on the list was a few years old). I'm currently looking to purchase a new device, most likely a smartwatch this time. My next device won't be by Fitbit.

I think I have found the solution, or at least the one that's working for me. I have a Pixel 2 running Oreo 8.1 and an Alta 2. Just by dumb luck, I had my location services on and started getting message notifications. I normally don't leave location on due to battery drain.  Also, I'm using the native Google Messages app that comes on the Pixel. Hope this helps!
