Pixel Watch 2 not syncing activities & Fitbit Today app crashing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm experiencing two issues, which seems to somehow be related.

1) Any activities tracked through the Fitbit exercise app on my Pixel Watch 2 have not synced to my Fitbit profile for the last 4 days

2) The Fitbit Today app on my watch crashes everytime that I open it after 3-5 seconds.

It seems that my heart rate data is still syncing to my profile since I can see sleep tracking and other data. However, of I try to sync from the Android app on my phone (Pixel 7) by swiping down, I'm getting an error that Fitbit can't sync with my watch.

I've tried:

  • turning on/off wifi
  • turning on/off Bluetooth
  • signing in/out of my profile on both devices
  • uninstalling/reinstalling the Fitbit apps on my watch and my phone
  • Factory resetting my Pixel Watch 2

Nothing has worked.

I contacted Fitbit support and they said they were "aware of the issue and I should expect a fix in the next few weeks".This is an unacceptable timeline for such a major issue with the product.

Is there anything I can do here?

Hello @thermy

There's an issue on the Fitbit side. I've also experienced the syncing issue with my Pixel Watch and have seen my exercise data disappear from the Fitbit app.

I looked at the Fitbit Status Dashboard website and saw that there was an issue with the Web API starting around the beginning of September. This impacts data syncing and is apparently the reason why we're having problems with seeing our exercise data in the Fitbit app. The current status is still showing the Web API issue as of today, 07 Sep 2024. So, they must still be working on fixing the problem.

Please be patient. I'll keep checking the status daily. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before it's fixed and we see all our exercise data again.

This is still not working? Am I crazy?

This is a core feature of the app, a two week outage feels pretty unacceptable...

I'm having the same issue, still getting crashing on the watch app when I open Fitbit Today, and the app doesn't sync with Fitbit so I can't see any workout data on my phone.

Hello @thermy & @GMcCoy

There's an update for the Android Fitbit app, ver 4.26.1, that started rolling. I got the update this morning (25 Sep 2024).  Although I haven't seen confirmation, I'm hoping that this update fixes the syncing issue that you've been experiencing.

The app updates tend to rollout in waves. If you don't see the update right away, keep checking.

This update seemingly made things worse for me. Prior to, I was able to sync watch by looking at cardio load. For whatever reason that made my activity sync. Since this update, now that doesn't work and no workouts initiated on watch or from Peloton come in to phone. Fitbit app on watch also crashes.

I checked, and I have that update, and my watch app is also up to date, but I'm still having that issue. The watch app did seem to stay open a couple of times last night but still won't sync, even when turning on wifi.

Thank you for your updates and additional information. I'm going to try to escalate this issue and will report back if I have any updates.

I'm having the same problem, although for me, the phone or app isn't crashing. Just no Fitbit Exercise updates (or Peloton). This is very annoying, as I'm sure many of us like to track our work

This has been going on for weeks.  Just literally had the following chat with "support" (if you can even call it that.....):

Same issue, exercises are not showing up in Fitbit Mobile app, that I typically track via my pixel watch 1 or when I take my courses via the peloton app. They used to sync basic information.

Hello @AmineUSA , @speedf , @StratDog

I've seen Moderator posts from after the app update to version 4.26.1 started rolling out acknowledging the issues with exercise data and that the team is working on a fix.

FWIW, a Moderator post from yesterday (02 Oct 2024) stated that an app update will start rolling out in the next few days. Please keep checking the Play Store and install the update when it's available for you.

I'll check back after the app update rollout is confirmed to see if the new app version has fixed the issues you've been experiencing.
