Pixel Watch 3 showing different steps number to Fitbit Andriod App

Hi everyone, hope you are well.

First time post and got an issue!

I have had a Pixel Watch 1 since Jan 23, and have had no issues with it, then approx 4-5 days ago after a treadmill session, I noticed the number of steps compared to the steps on the Andriod App did not match. This was frustrating on Thursday 5th September where despite hitting over 15k steps, my app recorded it as less then 15k, I was on a 3 week streak!

I didn't make much of the issue for the past few days, as I had the Pixel Watch 3 pre-ordered which arrived today and I've switched across.

But yet the issues continues.

Right now, this is what it is showing:

Andriod App: 13,939

Pixel Watch 3 Face: 15K

When I click on Steps on Watch: 14,979

What have I tried?:

Reboot both the phone (Pixel 9 Pro Fold) and the Watch

Delete Cache and Data on the Andriod App

Delete the app and reinstall and re-link on Andriod

Delete Cache and Data on Watch App and relink

I am at a loss now! Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. It started about 5 days ago. I have a Pixel 6 phone and a Pixel 2 watch with Fitbit app installed. I thought it might have something to do with travel as I returned from Europe just before it started. But it's been 5 days since I returned and it has not cleared. Sometimes it drops steps taken during the day and sometimes in the evening before I go to bed I notice that many steps (1,000's) may be missing.

I'm unhappy to report update 4.28.2 did not resolve this issue. We're closing in on 2 months since this started!

Same here!  What is so hard about this?  It's Google phone and smartwatch and app!!??

For the hundredth time, we were told "new Fitbit update has fixed this issue!" and yet the issue persists. Updated to 4.28.2 yesterday and while I did end up with the same steps at the end of the day yesterday, I just went for a 4 mile GPS tracked walk and my Pixel Watch shows 162 more steps than my Fitbit app. We're almost 2 months since this started, I can't believe how badly this issue has been flubbed by Google.

I have the opposite problem my pixel watch 1 counts less steps on the watch then it does on the app even Google fit is closer to what the app records so I believe that the watch is undercounting

@Starcracker23 is it possible you also have setup your phone in the Fitbit app to track your steps? If you aren't sure, you can click your device in the top left corner and it'll show something like this:

I'm almost at that point too. A couple more days maybe and will jump ship to the Venu3 if nothing changes.

I'm having the same problem.  It's been going on now for about 2 months.  Most days, the steps shown on my Pixel watch are 20% - 30% higher than what's shown on the app of my Google Pixel phone. I tried everything offered here with no luck.

I bought my Pixel Watch 3 just last week.

I have already once faced the issue where the steps shown on the watch was always higher than what was shown in the fitbit app. I even tried manually refreshing the app so that the watch and app sync but even then there was a difference in the count between what was shown on the watch and in the app. The watch always showed higher steps than the app irrespective of how many times I tried sync manually.

It sucks that you're also experiencing this issue! Google had this working for about 3 weeks before it reverted back to the same behavior and I have no idea why. I think it's a server-side issue as there was no update to the app when it started messing up again. This has been an intermittent issue since late August/early September and has been incredibly frustrating to deal with.

I thought I would circle back and give an update.  As of mid December, it appears that it's been working OK and as expected.  Not sure what they did.  I do believe my Android FitBit app underwent an automatic update, I saw some new features appear in the app plus, afterwards my watch and my app see to be staying in perfect sync.  Also, my yearly step average shot up a bit and seems to be inline with what I would have expected the reading to be.  Feeling a lot better about things now, than before.
