Did you mean:

Pixel must be rebooted every time I sync

Why?  I have the latest firmware, latest app, I've tried various combinations of sync All-Day Sync, Always Connected, Keep-Alive Widget.  But once I've not sync'ed for a half a day, it won't sync again unless I reboot (and Yes, I've turned bluetooth off and back on).  Is there something fundamentally wrong with the Pixel XL?  Or don't the Fitbit programmers know what they're doing?

I didn't do anything you suggested... (yet). I'm pretty sure I already had
the App update, since it had updated the previous day. After rebooting my
phone, and posting, I made sure I had selected the "Keep-Alive Widget', and
"Always Connect" was OFF, and "All-Day Sync" was OFF.

This morning, my watch got phone notifications! Without rebooting or
anything. It appears things are now working.

Hello @kirbyb, nice to see you again in the Fitbit Community! Certainly this is not a normal behavior so I would recommend to try the following:

Recently we have started rolling out a new version of the app. So make sure you have this version already. For more details, please refer to this post.

Either if you have to install the new version or not, proceed to reset your Fitbit app: Log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone has initialized, go back to your app and try again.

See you later and hope this helps.
