Google voice has been around for quite a long time.  I have been using it since about 2009 myself.  Could you please add it to the list of messaging apps.  It does not hook into the main messaging app so I have no way to access it.

I've found a solution. Hangouts is a valid choice and you get receive all of your google voice messages there. I have validated that it works.

Hangouts is NOT the same as Google Voice.

Switching to Hangouts will cost you a bunch of features of Google Voice and it works very differently.

Google has in fact backtracked and now allows calls directly from the Google Voice app again and now wants Hangouts to be a business app not for end users.

It should work with Google Voice!
