Profile picture

My Android app is not letting me post a profile picture. Every time I tap on my picture, it will take me to all of my pictures.However, once I tap on the picture that I want to use, than it closes out of my pictures and a little message that say "cannot load image" pops up evey single time. Even if its a different picture. What do I do?

Hello there my friend @P_barger42, welcome aboard to our community. Just recently I've changed my profile picture and I didn't have any issue and I haven't heard of any know issue with this. So my recommendation is to log out from your account and restart your phone. After you have done that, please try again. If is not working you can change your profile picture using your online Dashboard as a workaround if you have available a computer or you can do it using your web browser of your too.

Thanks for the advice. However it is still not letting me change my picture. I have absolutely no clue why. Do you know of anything else I could try?

Thank you @P_barger42 and I'm sorry to hear the issue still persist. I'm curious to know if you tried with a computer? If not, I recommend this post to assist you in changing your profile picture.

Hi, Im having the same issue. Used the online Dashboard and was able to upload, but several "blank pictures" are now showing (only on online webpage- not on phone app) and I can't delete any of them. The one I uploaded also shows up as very "squished". Would rather just delete the picture at this point, and it won't let me do that either.

Hi @Keytia63 and welcome aboard @vvn209. You can try with cleaning the cache browser and try again to upload the picture. I was having the same issue as you with my Dashboard and right now I reviewed and everything was okay. Also make sure that the profile picture format is a valid one that can read the web browser. 

 

If the issue persist try with a different one too, In my case what I do was to upload the picture from my Android device. If even with all these suggestion the issue still persist please contact customer support.

it wont let me upload on my android phone or table. i get to the crop feature but it will not let me "ok" or "close". i have to x out of the app.

Hello @jax_the_ax, welcome to our Fitbit Community. If you are doing this from the app, try to log out from the app itself and restart your phone. Once your phone has loaded again, go back to your account and give it another try.

 

If this is not working, try to change your picture from the online Dashboard.

I've done everything they have told me and still can't change my picture! I've been doing it right the whole time and still can't change it! Very frustrating!

No I haven't been able to get the problem fixed. They keep telling me the samething on how to fix it and it still doesn't work. So I gave up on it! If your able to figure it out and fix it please let me know.

Hello @SunsetRunner and welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community @Alyboo123. I'm wondering from where are you trying to change the profile picture? Is it from the mobile app or the online Dashboard?

 

Since we are on the Android board, you can try to do the following steps to address this issue:

 

Make sure you are running the latest version of the app for Android device, which is 2.47.

 

To see what version of the Fitbit app is installed on your device:

  1. Tap the menu button.
  2. Tap Help.
  3. Tap Fitbit App.
  • Now please log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings and look for the App manager option.
  • Search for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list.
  • Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and finish this workaround by restarting your phone.

When your phone has initialized again, go back to your app and try again to change your cover picture one more time.

 

Hope this get you back on track. Keep me posted if the issue persists.

Hello.  I need help.  Seems a lot of people are having issues and I'm not sure if it still persists for everyone.  I face the same issue.  It seems my profile picture does not load when I select, edited and saved.  It still shows the avatar.  I tried it on my computer and still the same thing.  The problem also applies with the cover photo.  I even tried taking a live photo and still face the same issue.  I'm on v2.55.  Is there going to be a new build of code fix for this anytime soon?  The defect can be reproduced, I'm just wondering if other fixes broke this code.

I have the same issue. Trying to change my picture regularly for 3 months and it just never apply the changes even if everything seems to work when I upload. Tried from android app and dashboard, doesn't work.

I read some other fitbitters found that it was because "it has to be a small picture". But wat does it mean? (Width and height max? Or kb max?).

I find it quite odd that the support team still hasn't answered these threads clearly...

A lot of people speak about it, which means even more people have this issue, as not everyone takes the time or energy to ask for help online and just bear with it, just as I did for the last 3 months.

Is there a chance that we could get it answered or fixed someday? Or at least have an error message when trying to change the picture ? so we could know what is the problem (size???) with the picture we're trying to upload.

I've just got my Fitbit and created my profile. During the process it said the maximum size of photo is 4Mb. I hope this helps. The only photo problem I had was trying to crop the photo for the Thumbnail view. I couldn't drag the corners using my Samsung A3, but all other functions seem to work fine despite the phone not being on the approved list.

I completed the process on my laptop and it worked fine.
